Title: Two new Basterds from WI
Post by: aircav on 18 October 2016, 08:25:09 PM

Just received an email from  WI featuring the 2 new Giants in Miniature figures

I rather like them, they would make some nice Partizans

Who are they meant to be?

Characters from the Tarantino movie, inglorious basterds.
The one with the tache is meant to be Brad Pitt. Hmmm.

Remarkable likenesses.... Admittedly it's to someone other than Brad Pitt and the other chap in the photo above but I'm sure they look vaguely like someone, somewhere.

Poor old Brad. First the split with Angelina, now this. Wargamers can be so bloody cruel.

Maybe you could have a shot at sculpting some? :P

No, I can't sculpt for toffee. I can't paint like Caravaggio either but that doesn't mean I can't voice an opinion on the merits of the work before me.

The sculpts are OK and someone has done a nice job painting them. Fucked if I can see how it looks like Brad Pitt though. As a figure it's reasonable, as a likeness it's piss poor.

No problem with the figures, just such a rubbish film though. Do they have to be bought as a pair?  I could perhaps use the "Brad Pitt" figure with a head and weapon swop but would have no use for the baseball bat guy....

Probably going to use these guys in my Bolt Action USA army. Not sure wether to model all the Basterds as a Veteran unit, the Free Partisan unit you can take or just as my Commanders bodyguards.

Well not 'free' but you can take a single partisan unit in any allied list using the special rules in the Battleground Europe book.
