Hi, I've got a long weekend in Budapest arranged for early November and was wondering if anyone knows of any wargaming/miniature figures and model car shops worth a visit please ?

There is three dedicated wargaming/miniature figures shop in Budapest (as far as I know). HammerTime Cafe (http://hammertimecafe.hu/) is a shop, cafe and club. Gép-Ház (http://gep-haz.eu/) has a playing area beside the shop as well. I was never been in either of them yet but I heard good things about both of them from my friends. The third one, Wargammers (http://www.wargammers.hu/) is only a shop.
As for model car shops unfortunately I can't help you much. Google turned these up (https://www.google.hu/search?q=makett+bolt+budapest&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=ESYNWPqcE8-o8weMnp3IBw#q=makett+bolt+budapest&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=47495230,19085993,3922&tbm=lcl&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:2,lf_pqs:EAE) for model/scale model shops but I don't know any of them.

Not much of "historicals". I seem to have found a mission... :)

Thanks for the links McMordain. As you say Geudens - not much historicals ! With the model car shops I am hoping to pick up cheap - if possible - (cheaper than we can get in the UK anyway) Soviet Cold War type military vehicles.

You might be on Facebook :D ? There is a page "Balaton Modell" with lots of military stuff, and - although not the right scale I suppose - they might be able to help you out. Sometimes stuff in hidden in rural Hungary: I know of a guy who lives in one of the villages nearby my town (Tiszafüred - Lale Tisza) who is scratchbuilding giant Star War models, so, you never know... :)

Sorry I can't help you much with historicals. Fantasy/sci-fi gamers and historical gamers seems to be two different circles around here with some overlaps. I'm more in the fantasy/sci-fi camp myself.
Also most of those who play historicals use the 1/72 scale plastic figures which are sold in scale model shops and the rest gets their fix from online shops most likely.
