The second game played this month at the DWG was this 28mm Hail Caesar Greeks v Persian set to which got a fair proportion of the clubs figures out on the table for the first time in quite a few years

The game produced a few command and control problems for the Greeks with the Persian force able to get stuck in with their scythed chariots in what proved to be a hard fought game.
If you would like to see how things turned out then just follow the link to the DWG.

If you are also looking to join a wargames club here in Devon then you might like to come along and check us out. We regularly play three different games a month right across the spectrum, specialising in historical wargaming and always aim to get visitors involved in a game on their first visit. You should also know that the first visit is free allowing you to decide if you would like to join us on a regular basis.
Details about where we meet and when are on the club blog together with plenty of examples of the kind of games we like to play.

A great AAR and some great figures on the table. Hail Caesar are a good set of rules but there are some anomalies which you think you know but then a re-read makes you change their mind. I put a lot of that down to the 'conversational' style in which they were written.

Great game and some awesome armies. Classical Greek hoplite armies will always have a special place in my heart for their look.
