I'll admit to being somewhat hesitant to post about these ranges as Studio Miniatures have been promising new releases for the Sikh Wars for, oh... about two years. As result, any post heralding the imminent arrival of new figure packs is likely to be treated as something of a running gag - and with good reason.
Despite these misgivings, a quick glimpse at the SM Facebook page revealed more greens (sculpted I believe by Nick Collier except for the captain Souter personality figure which appears to have been done by Paul Hicks) and the promise of both a release for the First Afghan War figures and a re-release for the Sikh wars range which had been pulled for remoulding and, as it turns out, the addition of new command packs to supplement and/or replace the previous ones done by Andrew May (here's hoping the dreadful British and Sikh cavalry sculpts have been discontinued and replaced with better ones by Nick Collier).
In any case, the lot should be available by the end of next week according to the Studio Miniatures FB page (at least that's what they're saying, just don't hold me to it) :

They look really nice!! ;D
-
The tribesmen look very good. Always room for a few more Pathans with jezails. And the Hicks' personality pair in the poshteens are brilliant as ever.
All those standing / marching poses... nice enough sculpting, but they don't inspire me.
Thanks for the news though, Arthur.
:)

Wow, I agree with Captain Blood -- the First Afgan War British officers in poshteens (including Capt. Souter w/colour wrapped around his waist) are amazing, and the Tribesmen with jezails also look great!
If and when these are made available for sale I'll buy them all. I'll probably also buy the First Afghan War Brits and sepoys. I am actually a bit inspired by them, simply because they are creating a way to field a British army appropriately dressed for the Winter of 1841-1842.
-
I'll definitely be picking up some of those Hill Tribesmen to join the growing ranks of my Pathan force for TMWWBK

Hicks Sahib did a few more British officers for the Studio Miniatures 1st Afghan War range :

The figure in the middle can probably be used 'as is' in an Iron Duke Indian Mutiny British force. Nick Collier also did a rather nice one :

More Nick Collier Brits in various poses and orders of dress :

Two of my favourite sculptors at work here... :)
-
Those 1st Afghan war miniatures look wonderful!
I think I must....... ;D
-
If they are available at Crisis I'm surely going to get me some. those Pathans and some of the officers look superb!
-
How wonderful these look!
Sadly have already got loads of Foundry Sikh was wallahs so probably won't succumb.
Cheers,
Paul

With Nick on board, I'm sure Stuart will be keeping his word this time. Nick isn't one to let folk down like the previous sculptor.
-
Got a few blisters of the Afghan Wars series at Crisis and these figures are even better 'in the flesh' than the pictures show.
-
I swoon ... :-*
-
These are wonderful! :o
-
I have bought some of the figures at Crisis in Antwerp, and they do look excellent!
I also bought Dan Mersey's "The men who would be Kings". So I'm off for some colonial adventures.
Flashman etc...
-
Any idea when these will become available for purchase online?

Now there's a good question....
-
I asked this question and this is the reply I got
"Our 1st Afghan War range will see the first packs released in a week or so (the greens you have seen were from our Kickstarter camapign) as we just relaunched the first packs for our Sikh Wars range today. Many of the packs will suit both campaigns especially the cavalry, artillery and BNI units.
The first releases for the 1st afghan War range will be British infantry in Greatcoat and Bell Top shako commands, marching and advancing poses with firing line to follow up a few weeks later.
If you follow us on Facebook it is a good way of being up to date with all the news and new releases"
So hopefully soon!
-
Fingers crossed :D
-
As soon as the 'skirmishing/ firing line' British infantry in greatcoats becomes available I'll buy them. I'm painting a few of the officers now and they are splendid figures.
Don't know what I'll do with them as I only 'do' Indian Mutiny but I'm afraid I'm talking myself into another smallish Sharpe Practice army(ette) for the Afghan Wars.
After all I have plenty of Afghans....

Well Willie B how about Canada 1837
(https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/68/Battle_of_Saint-Denis.jpg)
Lower Canada Rebellion, you will probably be the only kid on your street gaming that war.
-
Well, I actually had to look it up and then felt slightly ashamed. One of my SCW units is the McKenzie- Papineau battalion...
Shows once again that there's always something to learn. :)

On his block maybe.... ;) I've been planning to use these minis for just that purpose ever since I became aware of them. Between the Empress Maori War civilians, Brigade Games' War of 1812 Militia and Mountain Men and maybe the odd figure from the French Indian Wars I reckon a decent Patriote force can be built.
-
Sounds like a great idea. I don't know why. But I prefer the 1830s-50s uniforms to the earlier Napoleonic era uniforms.
-
Oh and there's the wotif of the Aroostock War. When I return from Brazil, I'll also be buying some Perry marines from their Carlist War range to re-assert British sovereignty in the Falklands. That was a very, very, nearly shooting match and I reckon it would be perfect for Sharp Practice.
