Title: BEF kilts and Scots headgear in the BEF in 1940

I bought some of the Pulp Figures Highlanders on an impulse buy (in transit hopefully) and my thoughts turned to the colour of the kilt and headgear in 1940. Does anyone have links or references that they could advise me on?

In short, it seems only the 1st and 4th Battalions of the Cameronians wore kilts in the BEF.

Sorry - the Cameronians, Scottish Rifles, did not wear kilts because they were not a kilted regiment. I think you mean the Cameron Highlanders who were a kilted regiment.

Scottish troops generally wore the Tam O'shanter (TOS) in working dress, but it was not uncommon to see some wearing glengarrys in working dress as well. As often as not officers  would wear the glengarry, or the officer version of the TOS, the Balmoral bonnet (just a better quality version of the OR's headgear).

My pictures show some of the kilted troops wearing the tan/khaki cover over the kilts, that is how I did mine.
