Making 75 characters, 6 each of the 15 classes in the core rule book. Almost done assembling them.
I am putting them together from the following sprue sets:
4 sprues Frostgrave Soldiers
2 sprues of Viking Hirdmen
4 sprues of Dark Age Warriors
3 sprues of Fireforge Foot Seargents
3 sprues of Fireforge Steppe Warriors
Of all these sprues the only ones that have two hand weapons are the four Frostgrave Soldiers sprues. 4 x great swords and 4 x halberds.
I need to make 6 templars and 6 infantry men.. so I need 12 two-handed weapons.
Any ideas how I could get some more from my set of sprues? I also have two part epoxy putty.
Would it make sense to turn some spears into a gigantic two handed mace / morning star? I could do that easily with the epoxy putty. Would it make sense for a Templar to use this or should I keep it to the Infantrymen?
Sure could use some more ideas. I suppose I could fashion an axe blade and graft to a spear as well.
Thanks.

The Gripping Beast Vikings also have a two-handed weapon on the sprue (Dane axe), so that will allow you to build two templars (pagan templars, why not).
Adding axe blades to a spear shaft is a very simple way to create more - the large one-handed axe from the Dark Age sprue does the job well. Made most of these Dark Age Warriors into Dane axe wielding maniacs this way - generally drilling out the left hand and resculpting it, pinning on the axe blade (sometimes upside down, as this shape appears historically too). Given a helmet, they could pass as Infantrymen for Frostgrave; otherwise the Fireforge guys can probably be made to do something similar.

By the way, 6 x 15 would be 90 figures - and I just realised you are missing the barbarians as two-handed weapon wielding guys. Something like the above could possibly pass as those, as they have no armour?

I think you had it answered in one! Also, I could easily see Infantrymen as being armed with spears.

Thanks for the tips.
Regarding Pagan Templars: well at least two of the Templars will be using the Fireforge Foot Seargeant Scale Mail bodies. And I changed the heads on the Templars so they look less Viking. I tried to do all I could to avoid the contradiction. Didn't want to invest another $20-30 in Templar sprues.

I have two infantrymen in my main warband and they both have spears :)

Unrelated question, but where do those round shields come from? I would love a couple of those for my Frostgrave men. I dislike the shields that come in the pack.
-
Gripping Beast Dark Age Warriors or Viking Hirdmen has those shields. The Dark Age warriors bodies are pretty crap imo, but the heads, weapons and shields make it a useful kit anyway,

Annie, thedicebaglady.net, sells a kit (for around 22 quid if I recall) that is 50% Dark Age Warriors, 50% Viking Hirdmen .. that's what I got. 42 soldiers total.

You are low on 2-handed weapons, right? Are you high on those shields? We could do a trade, perhaps? I could probably scrounge up a couple of interesting two handed weapon combinations.

Yeah I have boatloads of those shields.. I've even thrown a few away wow. I still have tons though. But I imagine the postage would kill us both? I'm in the states.

Not really. As long as we make it letter sized, and flat, it won't kill us. Maim us, perhaps, possibly mutilate, but we'll live. :D
I'll send you a PM in a minute to discuss. :)
