A couple of North Star pirates with the rest being Foundry I painted up the other week. These will be heading off to Cianty's city of Gierburg soon. If you're not familiar with Gierburg check out Cianty's blog (http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.co.uk/search/label/Gierburg) for some rather nice pics (and quite a few models painted by me).

There'll be more pirates on the way too once I've cleared a few other jobs. :)

I am that used to seeing these figures painted in bright colours but your muted colours work extremely well

Cheers :)
I might have been tempted to include a few brighter colours here and there but was asked to go for dark muted colours and no Hollywood nonsense.

lovely blending- amazing detail

Once again a fantastic paint job by Simon. :-* :-* :-*
I wanted these to have more of a "Black Sails" atmosphere than the usual fancy pirates. I think they turned out perfect. Can't wait to set them up with my terrain.
-
Erm these are a bit good :o :o :o :o
-
Love the muted tones. I haven't seen some of those poses before. Will have to check them out.

You are still one of the best. Fantastic!

Thanks for the comments everyone.
Make sure to check out Cianty's blog as his city pics are bloody fantastic. :)
-
Great painting. As others have said, the muted colours work really well.
-
Beautiful paint jobs on the figures, stunning work on the cityscape, and those blasted bases! Pet peeve so feel free to ignore. But perhaps something can be done to better blend the bases? Like try to match the stonework? Just a thought.
-
Nice looking bunch of rascals. ;)

Awesome brushwork! :-*

Superb painting. And thanks for the Gierburg link - what a wonderful, fully-realized setting for 18th century swashbuckling.

Wow. That is some amazing painting. Those muted tones make the figures look very ...determined.

I'm sorry for you, Simon, but you are not ready. Where are the Undead Pirates, the goblin pirates and the rest from Black Scorpion Miniatures??? :(
-
With another section of my gaming board finished (http://cianty-tabletop.blogspot.com/2017/07/the-port-of-gierburg-part-5-dock.html) I was now able to take some photos of Simon's beautiful pirates in their natural environment as they raid a port. ;)

Love the figures.
The North Star Blackbeard is so cool. :-*
I have a ton of Foundry pirates, lots even painted.
Have started some Blood and Plunder guys.
They are a little larger than Foundry.
Will not use them in the same units.
They look OK on the table in their own units.
-
like your muted browns and greys
-
What a feast for the eyes! Superb! :-* :-* :-*
-
Stunning! Very tempting to get into Blood and Plunder after seeing this.
