Kobold Press Bestiary: A Collection Of Fantasy Miniatures is Effin Cool Miniatures latest Kickstarter.
It is for a licence to produce a range of 28mm white metal miniatures based on the character classes and creatures from Kobold Presses "Midgard" campaign setting, as well as their "the Tome of Beasts" books.
Its a 30 day campaign and is off to great start, nearly 40% funded as i write this only a couple of hrs after launching.
Theres is 20 miniatures on offer once funded and they have many of the sculpts in hand, they also have more miniatures planned as stretch goals.

The blemmyes is an interesting take on that subject, although the rest of the finished sculpts leave me a bit cold. Still worth keeping an eye on to see if later sculpts live up to the concept art. The kobolds and bearfolk in particular should be nice if they do.
-
I love the concept art but the transition to sculpts has some to be desired. I like them but not as much as the art. I'd be interested in seeing the bearfolk warrior.

They are funded and have unlocked the first stretch goal "Far Darrig", they are now working their way towards "The Queen of Night and Magic".

There are a couple of figures I would like amongst the set but shipping from US is going to be $15 or more, plus the $3 surcharge you have to pay for the individual figures option pledge means $12 of figures plus $18 of costs.......$15 per figure :o
These sculpts are not worth that sort of money.

Sums it up for me. They're okay, but seem to be less than the sum of their parts somehow, reminiscent of the old 1980/90's Grenadier fantasy adventurers. The posing looks static and uncomfortable and something essential has been lost in the sculpting. I don't know if that's the because artwork asks too much, or because the sculptor has delivered too little.
They're alright, not without their charm I guess.

Yeah I hear you, a lot of overseas KS seem to be feeling the effects of high international shipping. ive dropped a few already because of it

Wish them all the luck, but the few sculpts they've shown...I wouldn't put much faith in the cool artwork they're producing as "what's en route". I'm with the others - the sculpts just don't do a darn thing for me.

Gorgeous concept art.

I have found that these minis are getting quite a "Marmite" reaction over the forums, people either love them or dont!

Another stretch goal has been unlocked, Nicnevin the Queen of the Witches, they are now working their way towards the next stretch goal, The Snow Queen.

I do like that giant (sensibly covering his man-jangles from low-slung poking weapons). Unfortunately, I think the sculptor has flipped the chain links (this is a moderately common gaff). They should go across in horizontal rows (the illustrator has it right), not in vertical columns.

A few more greens and samples.

I would pick up some of them if my local shop offered them at a fiver each ( if they don't have anything else lying around to throw my euro's at ) , but the majority leaves me stone cold. Most of the models look composed parts, not naturally grown and that's what you can expect from plastics, not metal miniatures...

Just under 48hrs left of the campaign!

That mummy is my favorite fig in the set so far.
