Title: Revell has released some old Star Wars kits
Post by: Predatorpt on 13 November 2016, 12:47:08 AM
I guess that with so much interest in Star Wars nowadays this news would be welcome here. As far as I could tell, they are releasing some of the older kits, marketed as part of the Rogue One release.

There's the AT-AT
(https://www.cede.ch/covers/catalog/15641000/15641597_1_90.jpg)

And a video of one assembled (video is in German) so you can see its size

They are also releasing an Imperial Star Destroyer:

And the Republic Star Destroyer is also getting released again. Although I can't find any pictures of the box, there's a video of one where the Rogue One box appears:

Is that AT-AT really 1/53?  That would be awesome! Looks like it is a re-release of this kit:
https://www.amazon.com/Revell-AT-AT-Imperial-Walker-Snaptite/dp/B001MDV1MK
which is currently way to expensive NOS. A customer describes as being 12"x15" which would be really impressive.

The only current production available so far over here is the AT-ATC.  It's 20 bucks, but looks a bit smaller than 1/53 and not as well detailed.

:-* 1:53. That will be a must get for a homemade imperial assault scenario.

That star destroyer is just begging to be drilled out and some lights added, along with some extra detailing (a mini Falcon on the control tower?).

That SD does have light and sound with the kit, if that box tells the truth.

Enough for me if it plays the Imperial March :D

Yes, and it can be used to make different variants as well... There was one with the wheels in the concept art of original SW, right? And a hover version would be nice as well... Should I start buying Imperial Assault minis?!?  o_o

That'd be the Juggernaught.

For me there's too many differences but it would be good if someone did one  :)

cheers

The SnapTite AT-ATC is smaller than the AT-AT, so maybe it's better for 15mm figures. You can see one assembled here:

Great news with the AT-AT!
It means that I no longer have to worry about chopping up my WotC one*.
 :D

*Does anyone know the actual scale of the Wizards one, by the way?
 ???

The AT-AT is 38 cm long; that's really 1:53 scale, if the Wookieepedia dimensions are right (20 meters long).

The AT-ACT is much smaller, only 21 cm long; one third of the price, though.

Not available direct from Amazon in the US yet that I can find. There are some helpful third party sellers offering them for US$200+ though... :?

If they ever show up at a decent price I'll definitely pick up one or two.

I think those are new old stock from last time around.  Looking forward to seeing a much cheaper version if Revel releases them across the pond.  If it's anything like previous releases we could definitely see this well under $50.

If they are that cheap I'll have at least 2.

Here's hoping! lol

There was a TRACKED tank idea in the original concept art, yes.
(and an aquatic one that got used in one of the old rpg scenarios).
I don't recall a wheeled one, but I think it was mostly Joe Johnston's stuff in that empire sketchbook that I have.

There was a wheeled concept but it became 'canon' and is called the Juggernaught. A version of it made an appearance in the prequels.

Yes, Jim; the Juggernaut first appearance was on The Imperial sourcebook, published by WEG.

Imagine the price then for a 28mm, 1:52(or whatever it is) scale! So much else I could do with that cash.
