Title: Converted Ghostbusters figures
Post by: Evilcartoonist on 14 February 2009, 05:42:10 AM
I've spent my spare time this week converting Heresy's sci fi customs inspectors into Ghostbusters figs:

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_OegChr5Zg_s/SZZWLZN4rAI/AAAAAAAABbg/HgfYNQzFPec/s1600-h/Ghostbusters+build+complete.jpg

Not to paint!

P.S. I asked at TMP (and got some good input), I'll ask here too: Can anyone recommend a toy or model of an ambulance I could convert into Ecto-1? The actual car was a 1959 Cadillac Ambulance. Do Corgi or Dinky or Models of Yesteryear do anything close if not exact?

Fantastic work.

When I was a kid about 1970, I certainly had a Dinky / Corgi U.S. style 'long, low' ambulance which looked a whole lot like the Ghostbusters wagon.
I remember it was white and pale blue. I recall the colours looked more like an ice cream van than an ambulance!

This looks like it fits your description:

Brilliant work on those Ghostbusters, EC. Can't wait to see what you do with them.

On the subject of the Dinky Toys - if I remember correctly, are they roughly 1/48? Ie: Would they work with 28s? The seller has some vehicles that would be great for various projects. I'm thinking there's a role for that megaphone van.

Wow, most excellent. These would be a dream come true for any number of buddies of mine, not ot mention myself. Looks like an effective use of very simple, layered parts to make a wholey impressive final result.

Great work. Only one comment though, instead of green stuff for wires, you are better off using actual wires. Just strip down some elecrical cabling.

Too late. I used greenstuff for the larger cables, but I did use actual wire for the smaller wires. Usually, for projects like this, I'll use what I have at hand rather than what is best. I still think it came out all right :)

Painting will start tonight!

Those are great!! I can't wait to see the finished product. They would also work for Zombie Games to I bet...I am only guessing as I have never played Zombie games before!!

If I make a pack for casting, I'll try to do a better job of making one. The first ones were difficult- the next one should be a little easier and a lot nicer  ;)

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade, but isn't casting others' miniatures illegal?

I think he means just cast the back packs and whatnots so that others could do our own conversions. I'd pay a buck a back pack at least.

What game or you making them for?

I've converted over some Tusk rules to play a semi-skirmish, semi-board game with these. Very beer'n'pretzels. More an excuse to keep these minis from collecting dust.

Hopefully, I'll get to the rest of these this weekend. Work happened this week >:(

Yeah cause I'm really suggesting that people make copies of Andy's figures!

I love the converted figures. One of the great things about LAF is seeing all the various projects people come up with. Plus making you realize you would love to play in a ghostbusters games with these figures, even though you have never thought about it before lol.

Your first figure looks amazing!! I really like what you did with the entire figure, including the base with the partial carpet. What a great idea and very unique!!

Great work, EC. I second the other comments - if you ever decide to cast some of the packs, etc. up I'd be interested in picking up a few, too.

Just seen these after some time away from the forum. Really great stuff.

A while ago I actually had my eye on using the Artizan KKBB security guards for some sort of Ghostbusters conversion project, but in the end nothing came of it. Perhaps this was the inspiration I need?

The Cadillac ambulances you see on eBay are apparently 1/64 scale (I even got around to emailing a seller, so close was I to kickstarting the project), so might do nicely for Ecto-1.

Cheers!
