Hi as per the title member Akbar wanted to see some close ups of the Foundry WOR figures I have added some other figures to the mix but the Foundry figures still look good given how old the sculpts are.
-
Great figures, beautifully painted. I do love the way you mix figures from different manufacturers together. Have you looked at the Essex sixteenth century Spanish? They were great figures. I recall that Kevin Dallimore mixed some with Foundry Elizabethans and they looked very good together.

These are great looking figures. Very nice.

Paul,
I haven't but now that you have suggested it I will :D
I have some figures from Eureka Portuguese which are full of character I will be using these for the Maltese as the description seems to fit to my mind, I am also adding some Games workshop Pizarro lost legion figures which also look a good fit a few Tag miniatures also.
Just need Warlord to release the range they bought from Arsenal and then shelved very frustrating when company's do this sort of thing it has changed my view of Warlord somewhat >:(.

Beautiful pictures !!! Remember me of Rubens or Rembrand !! stunning miniatures :-* :-*

I'm not sure who sculpted the Essex Spanish. Years ago someone told me it was a young Mark Copplestone but I think I read somewhere on the web very recently that in fact it was Aly Morrison. Either way, the figures were way ahead of their time when they came out (in the mid -80s which must put them within a few years of the Citadel Wars of Religion range which is now the Foundry Elizabethan range). They have the large heads which are typical of ranges from that time. In my opinion, Essex's horses don't really compare with more modern ranges and if you need cavalry I'd look to see whether I could use horses from somewhere else with the Essex riders (at least a couple of which are especially nice).

Very nice, please keep at it.
Michael.

Wonderful stuff.

Are the heads on the Arsenal Miniatures from Foundry? They look great.

A couple of Perry and a Redoubt (bare Head)

Thanks for the pictures, very helpful.

Paul...
The Essex Spanish were indeed made by a very young Aly Morrison
In fact my very first non 15mm comission ... :o
All the best. Aly

Thanks Aly. I've always loved the range. Way ahead of their time, as I said above.

Very, very nice indeed! :-* :-*

Really good looking work.

Willie,
You could also look at the Empire range from Gamezone. Personally, I don't really go for them. They're too big to fit in with other figures I like and I find them a bit cartoonish. Plenty of other people seem to like them, however. I seem to remember that they're also quite expensive.

Thanks for that I have actually ordered some of the game zone figures it will be interesting to view them in the flesh and see how they stand next to the other figures. I know what you mean about being a bit cartoony though I'm hoping the painting style Dave uses will subdue it a bit.
Once I have them I will post some comparison shots.
Cheers

Beautiful "theatric" painting - with the lighting, very Night Watch. I am thoroughly enjoying your work.

I think there is also some real potential in The Assault Group's Tudor range, especially among some of the Border/Militia infantry packs (steering clear of longbows, of course) and the Tudor gun crew. Nothing about them specifically screams "English," and they can just as easily be French, Spaniards, Venetians, etc. circa 1550's period.
-
I agree they will hopefully make an appearance in the collection sometime in the new year ;)
-
It sounds like you've got plenty of choice for the Christian forces.
-
Wonderful! :-*
Keep us posted about the new additions, please.
