Still very much a WIP (only started it Monday night):
Mobile Lab & Command Centre for my Not-Umbrella Corporation. Took the load off of a trailer, and rebuilt it with plasticard. Its not quite square at the moment - only painted the equipment today, and the innards aren't stuck down yet, to give it some rigidity (once the glass dividing section is secured in, it should pull the side wall in a bit).
Haven't finished painting yet either - needs dirtying up on the outside, and general tidying.

The inside of the trailer is divided into 2 sections - sealed off from each other, by reinforced glass - the lab, and the "Command Centre" - both have their own external access - sliding doors (mounted on plasticard rails so they can open and close).

Also toying with the idea of some internal lighting - blue for normal operations, and red for when it all goes a bit pear-shaped....

Still more to do - need to add some weapons racks, more "stuff" in the lab etc....
The command centre units are the new copplestone resin - the lab table is an Ainsty desk, with the computer removed. Figures are Hasslefree for scale purposes.

Very nice! 8)
Is the floor 'special' plasticard?
-
That is fantastic!
And inspirational!
Duly impressed.
-
Marvellous!! :-* :-* :-*
-
Very impressive!
And lighting, very nice idea!
I must say I prefer the red lights more!
-
Great work!
Love the consoles and the lighting is great! :-* :D
-
Awesome work Akula, how did you do the lighting? LED's? Argonor: I beleive the floor is "diamond plate" plasticard.
-
Brilliant!!!!! :-*
Awesome idea! I thought the trailer was the one that came with the semi - very well done!
-
Fantastic :o
-
Floor is indeed diamond plate plasticard.
The lighting is very lowtech - the blue light is from a light pen, and the red one is from a key ring. I would show the housing for them, but as this is still a WIP, they are currently stuck to the underside of the roof....with bluetac lol
The base unit (ie the wheels), did come with the trailer, but the body that forms the Command Centre/Lab is made from plasticard - its longer, taller and wider than the original unit, which allows me to have figures inside without it being too crampt - one of the future occupants of the lab might be of above average height..... ;)
No guns, or additional armour, as its not designed to travel without its rather substantial escort of humvees, strykers, tanks, and a couple of platoons of troops.

Very inspirational,
Watched resident evil extinction last night, which I thought was very good.
like what you are doing very atmospheric

Ooooooh... :P By all means, pull this through, good sir. lol
Looks very, very nice. Perfect use of those Copplestone scenery bits. And please keep the lighting effect, thatīs a great idea, even if only for the dropping jaws when you first switch it on.

To be honest, i'm almost there (although there is of course, no fixed end...):
BioHazard Team
Are they looking for a cure, or did they start the plague? Maybe they are testing a vaccine, a new weapon, or even looking for test subjects...
More of these guys to come. Scientist & lab techie are Hasslefree - the suited guys are Euerka, with a Westwind SOTR conversion.

The vehicles
2 more Strykers to make/paint, plus another Abrams, and some more trucks for good measure.
Humvees are TAG (on the left), and Fenris (softtops on the right), Fuel Truck is a converted FOA, Abrams is Hobbymaster, Strykers are CompanyB.

1st Platoon (Biohazard)
Troops in Green are TAG, guys in Urban ACU are Eureka as are the bikes, Commander is TAG, as are the bereted troops (bereted heads are Westwind SOTR), female bodyguard is from Hasslefree - Kendra (my favourite figure).

2nd Platoon - National Guardsmen
Black Scorpion Marines, painted by Dagenhameast (who also paints a lot of UTI's minis).

Thanks guys - its been enjoyable putting together (and not finished yet).
Trouble is, everytime i paint more troops, i think i need more zombies...... and then more troops....and then more zombies.... ;D
Most people's reaction when they see them for the first time is along the lines of "the zombies will be mown down", but i'm a firm believing in creating tactical problems for the players to solve.
Firstly of course, there is a fairly limitless supply of zombies in a post-apoc scenario, so the "dead" can be recycled back onto the table - i'm building some spawn points at the moment for this purpose.
Secondly, all that kit, tanks, APCs, Humvees etc sounds great, but in practice, it can become a liability, blocking Lines of Sight, burning up limited supplies of fuel, and requiring troops to be detailed to protect the conmvoy, raather than proactively hunting for zeds. My eventual plan, is to run an urban game, maybe as a "rescue" mission, with all those vehicles rolling down a narrow street, when the zeds start to spill out of the surrounding buildings.... ;)
-
What more can you say
WOW :-* :-* :-*
and I don't even like zombie games.

well the good thing about the tank is that it has three 50.s and we now make 120 beehive round for them now. think grapshot only with about 150 toungston steel darts.
Not good on buldings but, could deffantly shred a person or two. And they can move pretty fast to for a tank. But the thing that sucks for them in an uban envierment is that they have tons of blind spots, but baring they dont run into any thing, throw a tred or run out off gas there really isnt any thing the Zeds could do to them, and that also includeds the strikers. if i was the troops I would just butten up, and face out and shot any thing that moves or run it over. the armerd HUMVs would have combat locks on thouse 300LB doors and you cant put your fingers in the groves. The windows would also be bulistic glass so you wouldnt be able to punch threw it. "even if you were dead" they would just beat there fists into nubs.
Guys in soft skin hummers are screwed if they get surronded. Canvues and plastic doors wont stop any thing.
I would mix it up a bit and also have it so at lest in the begging the, Natinal guard think there just moveing in to suppress some riots, so say they only take like two magazins at first and when shit hits the fan, they have to fight there way back to the armory to get the heavy guns, ammo, and explosaves.
-
Of course you are right about the awesome lethality, of the modern day weapon systems, but i see it going something like this:
Armoured vehicle drives into a densely packed crowd of a few thousand zombies crushing dozens, maybe hundreds of them.....
....armoured vehicle eventually becomes stuck in a morass of undead body parts, vehicle/barricade wreckage, debris etc etc....
...crew bail out and get eaten, or stay buttoned up, and starve.
Zombies win.
;)

Love the Command centre!
-
I LOOOOVE THESE!!!
:-* :-* :-* :-*
-
WOW!!! :-*

Quite beautiful, Akula. And I must agree, that's a very sound idea for a Zed-based scenario. Dunno how many of you have seen the second AvP movie (dreadful, that) but the national guard moves in with humvees, a stryker and what-not, but despite what they were packing everyone was whacked in short order. I know aliens and zombies are very different, but that same principle remains when dealing with a force they're not prepared for. lol
-
I'm going to have to steal lots of your ideas , LOL just kidding . I'd love to see a game report when you get to play.
Bako , I watched AvP II on Sunday and this does remind me of it .
-
Steal away - its called "research"... ;) :)
-
Very impressive! :o
I wait a great game report with photo
Your work remember me Outbreak, AvP 2 and Resident Evil 3 (The trap in Las Vegas)
I very very inspired :o

Great job Akula. I like the Mobile Command as well as the temporary outpost. I can't wait to see all your efforts put together in a game.
