Title: The Thing - (John Carpenter)
Post by: Bloodaxe on 28 November 2016, 12:51:32 AM
Ive been thinking of making a small game board of Outpost #31 and playing The Thing in miniature.  I cant seem to find any figures 15mm or 28mm scale that look like the characters from the movie.   Is there any paper/printable sets out there that could be used for an arctic base set-up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I'm sure studio miniatures make a couple of the characters in 28mm. Check out their survivor range

Take a look at Hu Rhu's "Ice Station Zebra" project, loads of ideas that could be transfered to "The Thing".

At this point I'd settle for cardboard/paper minis.

If I recall correctly, not all the action takes place outside... so heavy winter gear is not mandatory. Been a long while since I've seen it.

I know your looking for paper models, but for inspiration on the physical model front, you can't get any better than Anpu's thread! Well worth a look.....

Saw those. Nice, but not all the characters and impossible (or nearly) to get.

I'll take what I can find- paper or metals, anything.

Some of the stuff in CP models 'Night Terror' range might be useful as stand ins.

Khurasan has the antarctic gents in 15mm, along with some of the creepier incarnations of the creature.  The range is called "Terror at the Bottom of the World":
