I hope that this the appropriate place for this post.
I've been playing Mantic's Dungeon Saga quite a bit recently. I've used it to introduce my better half to gaming. We've enjoyed playing the base game and some of the expansions. However now I'm looking to get another board game that's a quasi miniatures game. I've been looking at Descent 2. I've read a few of the reviews including Anatoli's wonderful blog series. I was just wondering what peoples opinions of it are? Also are there any other options which I should be looking for.
Ideally I'd like a game that the two of us can play, or we can have additional people involved.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard lots of good things about it from all kinds of people - boardgamers as well as miniature wargamers (all adults, so it seems it works not only for kids). Also, the minis are quite cute :)

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard lots of good things about it from all kinds of people - boardgamers as well as miniature wargamers (all adults, so it seems it works not only for kids). Also, the minis are quite cute :)

Inthink I have seen a table top video of mice and mystics. It looks great fun! I can't remember is it a coop with no overlord/dm?

Kickstarter is a great place to look for miniatures board games. Usually a dungeon crawl or two, or something like Siege of the Citadel.
You've got the dungeon crawls like Descent (or Imperial Assault if Star Wars is your thing)
The classic Space Hulk is currently back on sale at Games Workshop, and then there are sports games like Blood Bowl (again just released by GW) or Dreadball (Mantic). Deadzone by mantic is a sort of wargame with board gamey elements (using a grid not measurements) mythic Battles: Pantheon is another board wargame currently on Kickstarter (last 48 hours) and Monoliths last Kickstarter Conan is just on general release.

Zombicide Black Plague is quite good. I also thoroughly enjoy BSieged (get ready to get your teeth kicked in though...it's tough).

I agree with earlier comments concerning Mice and mystics its excellent, Battle Lore is another good one, Dead of winter is great fun although it uses cardboard stand ups instead of minis'. Blood rage is a good three + player ( I have never tried it with just two) that has fantastic miniatures and finally wings of glory is a great game although the plains can be fairly expensive. Still its one of my favorites.

Zombicide is fun; but currently we're into Scythe, with it's brilliant artwork and very cleverly worked out gameplay. And mechs :D This was a Kickstarter too.

Heroquest? -I think if you Google it, they're may be free rules and templates and stuff.
Space Hulk?-the new version has some of the best miniatures GW has done(in my humble opinion)
Munchkin?-fun game, with heavy tones of the old D&D
Cards Against Humanity?- not particularly a miniatures game, but sooo much fun!

Not a big fan of Descent, personally I would stay away. The main thing we didn't like was that the quests had to be completed within X turns, making it all feel hurried and rushed. Never had that Dungeon Crawl feeling, just some guys speeding to the finish line and whacking some greeblies on the way.
I also hear a lot of good comments about Super Dungeon Explore. Note, it is a Chibi game, but the gameplay is supposed to be terrific. And for a WWII version there is Incursion or Tannhauser from Fantasy Flight Games...there is Eden for a postapocalyptic feeling...Mansions of Madness for the Cthulhu experience...Sedition Wars for a hardcore sci-fi experience (and yes, I really like the game)...Terminator Genisys can almost be seen as a board game (nifty simple mechanics with deep gameplay)...Mage Knight the board game for that Heroes of Might & Magic feeling...Ghostbusters for all your slimy action...and loads and loads more.
This is a good time for the miniature board games :)

You might also consider the Dungeons & Dragons boardgames - there are 4 at te moment (Wrath of Ashardalon, Castle Ravenloft, Legend of Drizzt and Temple of Elemental Evil). Lots of very good miniatures and not too expensive if you look about a bit. On the plus side, in Castle Ravenloft there are a lot of suitable miniatures for Frostgrave or other Fantasy games.
Then there's The Others:7 Sins from Cool Mini or not and also Tail Feathers (Plaid Hat Games) - the "Mice & Mystics" Aerial Combat game.

I backed the TMNT Kickstarter. Board games have never appealed to me but i think i'll give this one a try when i get it.

Another vote for Zombicide. Now, that is a fun game. easy to learn.
You can paint the figures if you like.
I just bought Mice and Mystics for my daughter for Christmas. I am glad that everyone likes that game.
Looking forward to playing it.

You need the 1st edition. The 2nd is not good IMO.
Mansions of Madness is an excellent game, very miniatures like.
Fortune and Glory is an awesome game. It uses miniatures as pieces.
Battlelore is also really good, and is rolling in minis.

I have Battlelore on the way right now. I also have Mice and Mystics but have not played it yet. Both of these are rated remarkably high on Boardgamegeek. I love the idea of a narrative experience like M&M and I think Battlelore will scratch the itch that I have to play Battlemasters again.
One game that I was skeptical about, but really surprised positively me was Mansions of Madness. My buddy convinced my wife and I to play it with him and his wife. I really liked it and my wife -who does not like wargaming- really loved it. The new version has an app that can do alot of the bookkeeping and random events that really makes it move along well. It was mysterious, tense and exciting.
We played Zombicide a couple times I liked it but I'd advise buying the base game and playing a few times before diving into the mountain of add-ons that can be bought.
As for Descent, the same friend played it and wasn't impressed.
One that hasn't been mentioned, but also get's amazing ratings on BGB is Star Wars "Imperial Assault".
