What do you all think?

Wow! That looks like it would be a blast to play upon (or through...) I like the illuminated pieces!
-
Here is another great board showing the entrance to a dungeon. Great use of a variety of components dont you think?

I like the snow boards, the dungeon...not so much. It needs to dial back the bedazzling by about 150%. :D But if he likes it, that's all that matters.

That's really good. I'd like to see more. Can I ask, did you use D&D rules or something else? And what were the coloured transparent hexagons In
row used for? That's very intriguing!

Heroscape hexes repurposed as columnar basalt formations? Brilliant idea, love it!
Great necropolis too. May I ask, how did he do the wall sections for the dungeon? Always looking for new methods...

Oh he loves the "bedazzled" look :D He has collected more battery operated things then I could imagine including a small fog maker o_o :o I can't wait to see that one lol

I believe he is using current D&D rules but I will ask to be sure. I will also get a clarification on the colored hexs He explained it to me at the time but I have since forgotten (Old age make me a forgetful Git :?)

The base floor tiles are pathfinder and the walls are hurst arts casts I believe. I also like his use of Heroscape tiles I have done that many times myself. The next board I understand will have a SiFi theme (If I can get his equipment painted up lol)

Thanks!

What did you use for the snow?
-
Great tables. Well done.
Would love to play on those tables.
Thanks for posting.

Got the facts from my friend 8) They play using a hybrid Pathfinder/D&D 3.5 system. He uses D&D tile sets for the floors only and so each square is 5 feet. The colored hexagons represent a prismatic wall spell filling that corridor.

I stand a wee bit corrected He uses hirst arts molds for the walls and glue/paint them. I also mix in some Pegasus Hobbies walls to save time.

He uses Woodlands Scenic snow for the snow - just pour :D Cleanup is a little harder but not much. :)

That explains it! I always have trouble with prismatic wall spells!🤔

Clever use of those Heroscape tiles again. Very nice!

GREAT LOOKING BOARDS! The Cavern of the Giants really appeals to me. OUTSTANDING WORK!
-
Very cool! The snowy Necropolis is my favorite, but I would love gaming on any of those setups.
"They play using a hybrid Pathfinder/D&D 3.5 system"
That is our current version of "D&D", and has been for a loong time. Although at the moment D&D is on hold and we are playing an experimental RPG version of Mordheim and Shadows of Brimstone (a.k.a the Wild West meets Cthulhu's cousins)

Great boards! You can tell that this Jackal guy makes his RPG sessions a labor of love.
We also play using Pathfinder (which is really D&D3.5++) and are very happy with the byzantine complexity of this ruleset. Definitely not for the casual gamer, though, since just creating your character can be a lengthy and even painful process.
Again, great work! Are all those mushrooms in the cavern of the giants board homemade?
The only thing I thought was a problem was the use of "paper miniatures" in the first dungeon board. If you go to this much trouble on the terrain, some of you lads ought to paint up some more figures to do it justice. <g>

His mushrooms are an ebay purchase. Yes I have said the same thing about paper miniatures. He uses a lot of minis to represent his monsters but most of the players have yet to catch the mini bug :( In his defense they were all paper until about a year ago. I think we will see the minis eventually :D
-
A quick way for the non-painters to get past the "paper miniatures" hurdle is to buy pre-paints. The Paizo/Wizkids prepaints aren't that bad (especially the first Rise of the Runelords case bundle) and sit relatively well next to home-painted ones.
Like the zombies in the foreground of this dungeon view (http://gdurl.com/VO67).

I stand corrected the Mushrooms were found and purchased from a Pat Cataan's for a $1 each :o . I told my friend I would need to get me some. He has also told me theyt started using Mini's over the Christmas holidays so pictures will soon follow lol
-
Time for another picture. This was called the fire temple and yes they were still using Paper Mini's ;)

Here is the latest from the Jackal - a wicked swamp board which is just the first version. He has already decided to build a bigger and better board which I hope to show you later. Enjoy.

Awesome terrain! A bit on the "busy" side (not much spare floorspace to place miniatures on) but visually stunning.
-
Sorry its been a while since I posted a new board but I think this one is well worth the wait. Here is the Jackal's latest the sewers down below. Hope you all like it :D
