Title: background noise for painting
Post by: gweirda on 29 December 2016, 05:23:17 PM
If, like me, inspiring movies/shows don't work due to vision problems, you might try having this on:

The programming is quite varied -right now is "Calling All Cars" (I think)- but the occasional serial pops up (like Tarzan, Batman, etc...) that is fun to have on.  At the least, the mood can be inspiring?

I like listening to ball-by-ball commentary of Test cricket which I record. I'm on the 2014 tour of The Windies at the moment. But some sort of speech listening - plays, documentaries etc - never TV/videos....There are plenty more pulp-relevant things available from the BBC Radio4Xtra or Listen Again.

I like to have the Pulp Alley youtube channel playing in the background -  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnbqPrSJMh4&list=PL5sjn64oN6aZcZNM2jQ-LU_WJNJDvIui0

Dad has collected over 36 hours of old 1930-1940s movies and serials. Its fantastic!   :D :D

I listen to Classic FM - a wide variety of easy listening classical music and quite often film themes and complete performances.

Or some documentaries or TV series on netflix that do need much (any?) concentration.

Or "Thunderbirds", "Stingray" etc DVD Box sets.

I often like to listen to Kingdom of Loathing radio ( http://www.kingdomofloathing.com/radio.php ) for the pure damn randomness of it. Though--as when I just now checked on it and discovered that the DJ was stinking drunk (or in KoL terms, "falling down drunk")--it doesn't always work.
