Title: A GoT Campaign - Starting from the MAP
Post by: Sangennaru on 18 January 2017, 10:35:17 PM
Cheers everyone!

After a long rambling and my first take on a Mormont army (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?;topic=94172.0) i decided to do something different for the GoT campaign, starting with a map. All hand drawn (and still wip!) then imported in photoshop. Not much to show for now, but it will be coloured in the future, and with cities and roads since the campaign will be played on nodes.

That's all for now, i'll try to work on this map in the next few days after the game due for tomorrow evening!

Cheers
Jack

Ooooo, as a bit of a map junkie I can't help but applaud.

Very nice, and hand drawn to boot! Very clear and effectively done. I'm very much looking forward to seeing it evolve.

I have to agree.
I still have the hand-drawn maps for our old RPG world and our own version of Mordheim in the loft.
They are great fun and really add a nice element to the gaming experience and your version is very well turned out.

Very cool.  Like the others, I love maps too, especially hand drawn ones.

I remember as a teen, buying a huge notebook of hexagonal paper and made intricate maps, based on a Fantasy world I was creating....Much in the vein of Tolkein.

What a fun start for your project!

Thanks! I'm considering whether to reduce the colours or test a simil-watercolour with less accurate contours!

For the coastline, i think i'll do something in line with the shading of the mountains, something like this:

Updates soon, i'll work a bit more on it this weekend!

Updated the sealine! Added a lins pattern, the same one used above (which i drew a while ago and photoshopped into a pattern! :)

C&C and suggestions on how to proceed are welcome! :)

That's top work. Hand drawn maps just look the part. I've taken to drawing mine on CAD more and more just because it makes the repeat use of blocks like trees, mountains, settlements, etc quicker. It's not the same though.
