Much to my chagrin, I've been redeployed to a small island in the South Pacific, and this island now has exactly one painter on it. Me. I've combed just about every store on the island, and the only paint that I can find consists of spray paint, poster paint, and those little paint pots crayola sells for children. And a decent detail brush? Forget it.
So...what the heck am I going to do here? Can those little paint pots work?

Mail order would seem to be your best option.

I'm thinking that the key word here is 'Acrylic' as Crayola do a box set of this type. I've a couple of similar sets issued by Reeve and they're pretty good. Perhaps the vendor could order some in for you?

Order some in? A basic set can go a long ways.

I'd go with this myself.
I don't know how much cheaper it would be ordering from NZ but this is where I get my paints from. I imagine the cost of shipping would still be high though and the time to arrive could be a while coming from anywhere.

Unfortunately you just missed a big paint sale, some stuff down to $2.50 a bottle.

Balls. I rotate home in a few weeks, and can bring my pwn paints back when I return to this island. That'll get me paint faster than mail-order, and a damn sight cheaper, too. What a hassle. How I can be the only person interested in painting on an island with more than 50,000 people is beyond me.
Thanks for the replies, though. Appreciate you guys taking the time.

You're on an island in the South Pacific and you want to paint!?!? :o Someone's priorities are all akilter methinks. Is there not surfing, sailing, boating, snorkeling, diving? And what of the native lasses - even if you aren't supposed to touch you can sure look. Though some islands lasses might not be to very many men's tastes, I realize. Or perhaps you're the units resident eunuch, um, minister, I mean. :D
