Hi All,
I have three Warlord Crusader mk 1/2's and despite looking for images I am unable to find the definitive answer that helps. The question is this, does the turret hatch slide open or is it hinged. I read somewhere that the hatches slid backwards and the crew members had to be careful of this as if the driver suddenly braked or hiy a bump heavily the hatch sometimes could slide forwards and cause injury. So before I fix the hatch and if anyone know, please tell.
Thanks

Not definitive but Rubicon's instructions show slide, and no one on the Rubicon forum complained.

I hope that is of help.

thank you both,
Carlos, I previously looked at the Australian images thank you, but this hatch seemed to be lifted up from the rear on two props, so to me it wasn't clear how the hatch opened. As it is, it looks as though the hatch would open forwards, but I know that i incorrect from other images.
Mr Vanilla, thank you, the instructions show hatch slid back as you say, this is how I imagined the hatch to work, it looks like I should have purchased Rubicon instead.
Which now brings me to asking does anyone know how the two scale up side by side?
So now I can carry on and slap some paint on the beasts.
Regards
Budyenny.

No problem.
Page 4 of the Osprey New Vanguard book show the original Crusader T3646 with it's sun roof open.
Page 6 is an overhead view of the invincible Covenanter (only one lost to enemy action). The turrets are the same.
I do not have a resin Crusader so I cannot compare them.
My Rubicon model is here:

The hatch slid back on the Crusader I & II.

It changed to side opening hatches on the Mark III.

Oddly enough the old Airfix kit got it right when it came to the turret hatch. Fond memories as a child.
These photos of said kit may help.

Yes I well remember Airfix kit of the Crusader. That long ago, so long ago that I have not remembered the hatch assembly.
Thanks to all for the replies.
