Title: My old west (lotow/tombstone) 26/1-17
Post by: TheCaptain on 23 January 2017, 08:52:26 PM
So my gaming group and I have caught the Old West bug, so we've decided to give the old wh lotow rules a try, though we will problably also want to give the new tombstone rules a go (...because undead cowboys). So with this in mind I picked up a pack of Black Scorpion minis. Now, I have not had very good experiences with resin (air bubles, warping, 'melting'), but they are pretty nice and I have no complaints. So like I've done in the past I'll use these forums to help keep me on track, and without further ado here's my first painted posse member.

Back to painting, and any advice and/or criticism is welcome.

Lovely clean paint job.  Look forward to seeing the rest.

I like the Black Scorpion Old west figures and that one in particular.  A pity they are so big! But that only matters if the other minis you've bought are too small (sob)

I like Lotow as well.  Good fun rules.

Very nice!  I use that figure in one of my Shadows of Brimstone groups. He has a lot of character, and you have done an excellent job on him. Looking forward to seeing more.

We have picked up a few Western figures from the Reaper Chronoscope line.  They seem to scale up reasonably well with Black Scorpion.

Thanks guys! I hadn't actually looked at the Chronoscope minis, some of them look pretty good. Also, I had the day off so I managed to paint up another posse member.

Until next time...

Another one of my favorites from the Black Scorpion line, and again, you make him look sharp.

Amazing the amount of painting you can get done with insomnia... Last one for now, I just got the scenery upgrade for the TWD game, so that's next.

the two-pistol fellow you posted, picture before last, is probably my favorite Black Scorpion "Tombstone" figure.  As before, I really like how yours has turned out.

Nicely painted, the tubby bloke is one of my favourites. The BS figures have loads of character and as mweaver says they scale up well with the Reaper figures.
Have you used army painter dip or ink on the last 3 they have a good subtle shadow in the folds.
Cheers

Well done.  Love the BS range (have a few more to re-paint myself actually)

Thanks guys.

Neither, I just used GW washes for the shading, mixing and diluting with some medium, followed by highlighting.
