Title: Pulp Alley: how many perilous areas?
Post by: Remgain on 29 January 2017, 09:46:35 PM
Hi,

a couple of questions.

The rulebook states "As indicated by the scenario, most games should include 4-6 perilous areas."
Very well.. but actually the scenarios don't indicate anything.
So, I suppose that the "4-6 perilous ares" apply always, at discretion of the players.

Furthermore, when a character with a plot point is down, the same character when (and if) recovers, has to pass a new challenge to obtain this plot point?
Or it's already in his hands?

Thank you!
Marco

On the latter question, "A character immediately loses control of any/all of their plot points when they go down or out." The pp is set down next to them and is in play again. Some of the scenarios that have been published state that some particular plot points are "no drop" points.

Yes, many scenarios are specific about the number and placement of the perilous areas but if it is not covered in the scenario then 4-6 areas is a good number to agree on. There are plenty of times that we use fewer or more perilous areas just based on what kind of setting/scenario we're doing, so you should always feel free to use your own judgment.

If a character goes down while carrying a plot point then it is dropped/lost and the marker is returned to the table - unless it is a No-Drop plot point. Yes, if the character recovers then they can attempt to get the plot point again. Yes, they will be starting from scratch and will face a new plot point challenge - and maybe even another peril.
