Title: Novels
Post by: Mr.J on 24 February 2009, 11:55:47 AM

Just been looking at my book collection and found a couple of novels that might be of interest:
The first is called Ratcatcher by James McGee, the second is its sequel, Ressurectionist (haven't read this on yet, but thought the first was a good yarn).

It's set in London, I think it's during the Napoleonic Wars, can't quite remember. The main character is a bow street runner, the story has spies, espionage and intrigue, worth a read I think.

I agree, Ratcatcher is a ripping yarn. I haven't read Resurectionist either, but my Dad has it and I'll nick it off him when he's finished  :)

Another good one in a similar vein is Bernard Cornwell's "Gallows Thief", which is also worth getting.

I've been looking at those novels, glad you liked them I may purchase when I have read through a bit more of my book mountain.

Hi Guys,
Buccaneer by Tim Severin is a good read as well. This is the second of 3 in a series. The first is called Corsair I think and I'm on the prowl for it when I hit the shops again. Ressurectionist is a good read also. Have to get the first one now you've reminded me about it.
   Cheers

Gluteus Maximus you reminded me, I got Gallows Thief ages ago and put it aside and never got round to reading it. I'm very glad you did, a really good story!
Probably the wrong forum but I highly recomend the Caspasian series, more pulp but really good all the same!
