Title: 'Kingdom of Heaven'...
Post by: Harry Faversham on 05 February 2017, 09:54:08 AM
Watched 'Kingdom of Heaven' last night, so tomorrow's battle was a given...

I think, from now on, that I am going to stop looking at any threads about the Crusades.
It's just too bloody tempting.
I keep toying with the idea of my Normans becoming early crusaders, but the thought of painting lots of saracens with all those horses and all that patterned cloth...
...well, it gives me the shits.
But I want to.
But I don't want to at the same time.
I must stop looking at these threads. I manage to talk myself out of it then I look at threads like this and think, 'I want me some of that!'.
I'm going to be strong.
Strong.

...I suppose I could start off small-scale, and do a Saga-size force, couldn't I?
Couldn't I?

No, I must not be weak...must not...be strong...strong...

...oh bugger.

Resistance is futile...

I did, therefore I have my Normans ready for Saga as well as for Saga Crescent & Cross. However I have multiple opponents who decided on rather having Saracen armies. Couldn´t you possibly motivate some gaming companion to paint an opponent army for your Norman crusaders? You could still collect more Normans and let them "dispute" their opinions on whose lord should own some particular dutchy in the Holy Land...  :D

I mean, Tiberias and Lousignan weren´t aligned at all in the movie for example.

Harry your game and table are great anyway!

Best thing I ever did buying them flocked tile thingys. We can now set up a game in the kitchen in half an hour and sit about drinking tea, eating biccys and playing sowjers. Much better than perambulating round the big table in the basement.

Yep it's 4x4, I bought them from the Bazaar late last year but can't remember the maker's name! The hills I got separate from Kallistra. The tiles are desert on one side and grass on the other, the desert having an oasis and dried up riverbed, the grasslands having fields, rough ground and a rather cartoonish river.
Hope it's allowed to add these piccys on this part of the forum but they might help someone identify the company who made them...

Regardless of who wins, it is certainly going to be a handsome game!  Very impressive setup.

Resistance is feudal, as the Americans say, for some reason.

...oh bugger.

Don't get the Muslims, then - raise Byzantines to fight them.
