1/56th Scale (28mm) Chieftain Main Battle Tank from Sloppy Jalopy
We are pleased to announce the long awaited arrival of the Chieftain kit from Sloppy Jalopy. Designed by Ian Crouch and acquired by Sloppy Jalopy when they brought the Chieftain line.

The kit contains detailed resin hull, tracks and turret castings together with white metal components.
The model retails at £28 and is available from Sally 4th and Sloppy Jalopy Mail order.
Sally 4th is Sloppy Jalopy’s show agent so we will have the Chieftain as well as the complete range of Interwar and Cold War vehicles and figures with us around the shows.

The next shows that we will be attending is ROBIN on Sunday 12th February and Hammerhead on Saturday 4th March,  where you will be able to take a look at the painted model in our display case.

The next two models to be released by Sloppy Jalopy are the T62 and T72 kits.
We have written a detailed assembly / painting guide for the Chieftain kit which is available here :

Now that is a good idea!
I think I'll have a go too, if you have a spare Maggie.

Hmm that's nice! Now I'm on the cusp of a dillemna. Sloppy Jalopy or Blitzkrieg.

Hurry up with the T-62 please, I'm after 3. If you would consider doing the additional armour for the T-62M I'd be a very happy man.

Seems quite in line with other companies' prices for resin vehicles of that size.  Empress, for example, typically charges £26 for a modern MBT.

It's not much smaller than a house-brick. Value seems fine to me. How many are you planning to put on a table at once?

It's just not a very good model for the money...
wot's happening with them side plates, they're not that thick on a 1/25 model!

I would imagine the 1/25th scale model is a plastic kit, and that the ones on the Sloppy Jalopy kit are as thin as can be cast in white metal.

Yep, looks like the the side skirts on the SJ model are white metal...

But, then again so are these, and they're in 15mm!

I'll get some photos taken next week with the tank commander and some infantry on the ground for reference.

Well, this is quiet an improvement then as the new Sloppy Jalopy Resin & Metal kit weighs in at a mere 350 grams!

Thanks a great looking tank kit. But the scale will make it too small to fit in with all of my other tanks. :'(
I would love to have a decent looking Chieftain in 1/48 scale.
