Greetings you all
For a while now I've been thinking of making or commissioning a fantasy/medieval human farming thorp to use in Skirmish scenarios
and I am looking for ideas to make it look lively.
I mean not just 4 or 5 houses standing stupidly. What do you think would make the trick and turn it from just plain and bland to a more
realistic place ? What I have in mind so far is a couple of houses, a granary, a blacksmith, an orchard and a couple of garden patches,
maybe a pen with either pigs or goats.
So please I await your wise advices or links ;)

I'd recommend you take a look at the York farming museum. They have a life size walk through/ living museum Viking Thorp built on an original foot print.
It's worth considering building your village/ thorp.in three or four smaller sections that can be used as small hamlets,or farmsteads. Then combined into a village and recombined into different village layouts.
Don't opt for a one trick pony. It's a false economy. That said there are several companies with usable premade ranges Grand Manner ,and 1st Corps Miniatures.spring to mind (simply because I've sculpted for both.)
