I certainly hope it ends up in the British museum, that's amazing.

And we were all amazed by Overlord's brickwork!  :o

Wow!

You're right about the figs though. Maybe he should start over.   ;)

That's breathtaking. People like him make me proud to be in the same (more or less) hobby as them.

Very impressive.

Roughly 15mm scale ..... wonder if he'd let us use it for gaming ?

I would have thought closer to 10mm, but hey, I'm no scale creep!

Come to think of it... if I was whittling those figures I wouldn't be too precise either. For what they're being used for I think it's an amazing effort!

And the castle... WOW  :o

He's sculpted 4000 figures which take three hours each  :o ???

That makes me feel a little better about my own sloth-like painting speed. I might even get my 100 or so Zanzibaris done before he finishes his project lol

And while he sees it as a form of relaxation, he says his wife thinks he is mad.
'She wishes she'd married a normal person,' he said.

The common lament of a geek's wife  lol

But seriously forks, I can't even imagine having the level of project commitment to tackle something like that.  Incredible!

Religious or not, that's a very nice model. There's 31 too many Jesuses (Jesuii?) though ;).

That's an amazing piece of work. This proves that I'm not an over-achiever after all. One of the things I like seeing is a well thought-out diorama, and this is magnificent. This thing just begs to be the terrain piece for a Great Revolt battle with Romans and Jews.

Could you imagine making all the little footmen for that though? :o

Count me in disagreement over the figures -- I think they lend a bit of authenticity to it.  Don't get me wrong... had the figures been purely realistic I'd be suitably impressed, but the relative crudeness of the carvings works very well here.  And, given his attention to detail on the temple itself, I wouldn't be surprised if that's his intent.

Agreed 150 percent.... unfortunately not much movement on the Jewish Revolt sprue over at the Wargames Factory these days, but hopefully it'll pick up at some point. This is just a war and period that needs to be covered.

You're right, Doc. Not enough interest in the Jewish revolt, but other figures can be adapted for use. I like the Biblical-era ancients in 15mm, but most people want to fight Romans vs. Gauls in 25mm. Or the Spartacus Revolt - another great era! We can always hope one of the manufacturers will take notice of the interest. Now if I could only get the idea out of my head for making the Siege of Masada in 6mm I'd be set, but now that I've seen this gentleman's Temple......

Well, for what it's worth, it's something I'd consider as a future line in 28mm, or maybe 15mm if I could find a 15mm sculptor, but that's a bit down the road.

The main issue with the Great Revolt seems to be the appearance of the Jews. We know a lot of anecdotal stuff, but nobody seems to agree about just "how they should look." In my personal opinion, most Jewish ranges out there for any period look a bit too much like they're made up of rejects from a ZZ Top video (too scraggly and wild looking), or they are basically just adaptations of other ranges (Ie: let's turn these Hittites into Jews). It would be great to see a little more creativity in that area.

On the other hand, they just aren't as popular. The DBX rules never gave much attention to the revolt (took six Legions to crush it, but Barker felt it was "inconsequential"), compared to things like the Gauls, Britons, etc.

I do think Masada or Jerusalem could be fun to do, given the right scenario and the right miniatures. You could probably do them in a variety of scales.

This temple is definitely tops. Would be a heck of a skirmish.
