Had to go to Tesco's last night as we realised the cupboards were bare, but turned out to be well worth it! On my traditional delve through the toy aisle (just in case something amazing is hiding) I came across this..

So I told Mrs Dewbakuk that I had to have it and that it was important and yes, I relised how big the box was but I would remove all the bits I wanted when we got home and throw the rest in the bin. She doesn't mind me buying random things, it's the amount of space it takes up in the house that she objects to.....
So, I took it home, threw the majority of the egyptian Anubis bits away, keeping any useful symbols and small bits that could be added to scenery. I'd have thrown the pilot too, but I had an idea for a 28mm VSF scientist from him, so he'll be sticking around as inspiration for a bit. One of the high points of the set is the jetpack, it's a great piece for an engine component.
So here's some pics with a Westwind adventurer (that's been converted into a dino handler) for scale.

I went to Tesco on Wednesday night for similar reasons and all I found was a couple of (very nice) paint mixing pallets for £1.00.
Obviously they have more selection in Nottingham than Mansfield.
Looks great with endless conversion potential although not bad as it is.
Jammy bugger, bet it was cheap too.

It was a mighty £10. The gold bit ont the back is actually a button that makes the wings flap too. Great toy, although destined to be ripped apart.....
It's in the same range section as a load of viking and caveman sets, they had other mummy style sets but this was the only one of these. I think that helped in the wife pursuasion stakes. It was a Tesco Extra, one of the big ones. Does mean I have to drive to Long Eaton to go, when there are closer ones but it's usually worth it.
The central engine will probably become a steam drive with the smaller ones used as out-riggs. Not for a while though as I already have three partial nef/airship builds. The wings and tail, I'm not sure yet but they're too good to throw. Maybe a big glider, Ewok style :D

I am shocked that any of it was thrown out. Great find.
I may have to check out the tesco extra next to me.

There are 9 more mini-raptors mounted on penny bases to make a 10 man/dino unit and he's had his sword/machete cut off and replaced with a steel whip. It's worked quite well.
The beetle will be going into a box for now but will eventually be used as a giant beetle for an arab type force (possibly fantasy). Or may end up going for trade when I never get round to it :P
The bits that were thrown out were the massive sarcophagus that was way too big to use for anything and the anubis guy who I just couldn't see being used. Not even as a statue. The rubbish rubbery weapons had the details cut off to be used in scenery before getting thrown.

I will have to look out for this over the weekend. The flyer's engines will be perfect for a large 'nef and an even larger 'dig that have so far got no further than sourcing the hulls.
The rest of the flyer looks like it would might work well as a VSF onithopter.

Damn it get on with the million projects you have already(this guys lead mountain is BIG, IM talking room sized proportions...) and get that small legged vsf robot done so I can cast it out! Shiney things are distracting you I know, but focus man!

Was actually lining up the robot this evening. The torso is too big for the legs really, so I either need to make a bridging peice so that the body overhangs the legs slightly, or make a thinner body. Actually, thinking about undercuts, the body overhanging the legs is probably a bad idea.

I would love to get my hands on a set or two or three of those. I can see all kinds of progects from those toys. The flying machine looks great all by it's self or the many parts that could be worked into a number of VSF flyers. The jet pack could be parted out to make steam boilers and such too. And you never have too many giant bugs.

Just to be clear - are the "mini-Raptors" in this set too or from elsewhere?

That's a Chap Mei toy. I've seen another - from the same line - that comes with a zeppelin/airship of sorts. They are easy to find in the Portuguese Toys R'Us, but they seem rather rare in the US/Europe

The mini-raptors are form the Honorable Lead Boilersuit Company. However they stop being produced at the end of the month, so grab 'em fast if you want them. Although, there are people interested in the range apparently.

Yes, nice, isn't it... I' have one on my workbench for months: it's the base for my "steam bomber" (was to be the next project in my ongoing battle with Pappa Midnight, but it's been on a hold since he started redecorating his house...).
One thing though: some part of the toy are more "greasy" plastic than others (e.g. the tubing of the aircraft frame) and need more care when undercoating.
BTW, the toy is sold over here (Belgium) under the Chap Mei brand by the "Fun" chain.
