I'm preparing to play test T&T for the first time and was just wondering what everyone else uses for suppression and pinned counters. I will be probably forced to use glass beads the first couple of times around, but would love something a little more fitting. :)
Love to hear your ideas.

Hi,
We use small plastic beads (HAMA) as the different colours can be used to represent various things, supression etc. Some of us have glass beads or plastic skulls but in my humble opinion the less non figure/scenic material on the table the better.

Hi,
I use little stones glued on a coin. I really base them with sand and some static gras. Makes them look natural and dont disturb the game much.
1 stone, 2 stones and 3 stones marker. For pinning I use casualty models. Wounded or dead figures.

I was thinking of using small tiddley winks myself

I like the thought of little clusters of human skulls mounted on a coin or washer. Is there anywhere that sells little lead skulls?
I was also thinking of a fallen musket or helmet with a bit of a blood stain, but I guess u would need different counters for different units, eras etc.
By the way is there any need to keep applying suppression counters if they have already surpassed the number of soldiers in a unit?

Reaper may still sell small pewter skulls. They were used as agitators in their paint pots. I read a thread somewhere else by a guy who used them as casualty counters.

@fsultana
Nope. When the number of stones exceeds the number of active men you dont have to pile marker.

For my NWF board I have purchased vultures, crows and casualties to use for the subject. Nothing painted. In the past I've used sheep.
I am of the Puritan Church of Lead. All littering of a lovingly crafted gaming board with beads, cardboard and all other things which look out of place is sinful and an abomination to God.

I have little white flags on terrain bases which I use to mark pinned units (use them for various things in other games too, such as suppressions in Price of Glory).
At the moment we use poker chips for suppressions in T&T, which I don't mind doing but it isn't ideal. I'd like something less obtrusive in the long run. Trouble is you need lots of the things for this game, and making counters and stuff is quite a low priority at the moment when compared with painting figures and making terrain.
Still mulling over what method I'll eventually settle on, same as you. Something that looks good but isn't too labour-intensive (casualty figures are out on that score, would just have to paint too many, though I do use them for other things).
Unlike Hammers, I have nothing against tokens or counters in principle, but only if they look attractive and nice in themselves.

Frank from our group found some skull beads. The blue represents 5 pinned results!

We track suppression markers on a unit card for each unit. We add a a prone figure on a red base in the middle of the unit to represent the Pinned status

I made up a bunch of hasty rifle pits on 1" washers. Just a washer with a bare dirt area, small pushed up dirt baricade and some quick flocking.

Hey guys, those are good ideas. Thank you.
Impaled skulls...great idea for a colonial game :)

There's some pics of my suppression counters at the bottom of this link:

I used plastic coins (from the Early Learning Centre) to make 1s and 3s with various battlefield debris. Yes, that does mean I have to do counters for both sides, but it has been worth it.
I have found that using single counters is a real pain - in T&T you can easily get 6 or 8 markers per unit, especially if you are using MGs of any sort - so making multiple counters is a must.
Another option I have seen recently is using a small dial numbered 0-10, but I don't have any pics of one yet.

I am not much for beads, plastic markers, pieces of paper and such sullying the board. I use things like this as suppression markers:

Nice work Hammers!
Who makes those crows and vultures?
-
wow, both sm look great.
As mentioned earlier I use stones ( 1 to 3 stones ) on a scenic base and for pinned I use casualty figures.
