Title: Geezers Shut It game AAR
Post by: Clawed_Greengrass on 26 February 2017, 09:53:36 AM
Someone requested an AAR of a recent game of Geezers Shut It. Pretty basic but here we go.

This game was about a wages snatch from a small firm right on the fringes of town. A gang of local no-goods chose to hit the firm mid morning when most of the office staff had gone out for coffee break. The scrotes had managed to "aquire" a telephone company Ford Transit to get them to the premises. A MK2 Jaguar driven by Will Barrow, a pretty good wheels man would be parked across the street behind a local Spar shop ready for a speedy get-away.

So far, just an ordinary day for the locals going about their routines.

The Transit arrives and four thugs burst out of the back and enter the office, three upstairs, one down to guard the door.

Manager Mr Braithwaite, just reaching for a bottle of whisky in the cabinet freezes with fear as three masked scrotes appear yelling "Don't Nobody Move!" Office boy Richie Armitage is dragged across the floor to open the safe, whilst Phil (Daisy May) Snodgrass lays snivelling on the floor like a big girl's blouse.

A local pimp outside does a good deed for once and phones the Police.

We were play testing some new "Don't Nobody Move!" rules. The Police player rolls a secret running tally for when they turn up and who turns up. The higher the number the more arrives. The problem is. If you wait too long for the high numbers the blag could be over before the rozzers arrive. The blaggers also have to roll to see how much money is in the tills or safe and how much each one collects each turn. This adds great tension to the games. The coppers are desperate to get there with as many as possible, whereas the blaggers are desperate to get as much loot as possible. Get too gready or just rubbish dice rolls and they may hear the famous words "You're Nicked!".

Turn five. The Police arrive on scene while the blag is still going on. The police accumilated 18 points which allowed them to turn up with 1X Copper on the beat. 1X detective armed with pistol. He turned up in a Ford Cortina. Then 1X copper in a local area car, the Ford Anglia. Even at a time like this, dopey "Rita the meter" the local traffic warden turns up to "Ave a word" about the poor choice of parking.

Three scrotes upstairs left most of the money and managed to escape via the back doors.
The local pimp realized that the Jaguar parked with it's engine running was the get-away car. So deciding to be a Have-a-go Hero he attempted to pull the driver out of the car.

The scrote on guard at the front door decided to show the law that he was as "Ard as nails" and stepped out in the street with poor old Richie Armitage as hostage. One shot was fired in the air to the shout of "Back Off Copper!". The coppers in the street backed off behind their cars except for DI Brodie who'd moved beside the building. During a split second whilst the shotgun was still pointing skyward, DI Brodie used his automatic hit and shot the villain in the shoulder and bringing him down....."You're Nicked!".

With Pimp Daddy laying into the driver of the Jag and too many public around, the remaining blaggers took to their heels and scarpered in various directions.

Pimp Daddy's now hoping that some of his earlier convictions might accidently get.. H..hmmm!...mis-laid.

It was a real enjoyable game. I never found this rule set when it was originally released due to other period commitments.
If like me you've never tried them, and you want a game with that real 1970's cops and robbers in the UK feel, then i can't recommend them enough.

Cheers

Great minis, and great looking board! What size of table do you use/need for the game?

The game in the piccies was on about 3ft X 3ft. Most of the action took place in about 2ft max. When using the car chases we tend to go for 6ft X 4ft. Most of the game involves punch ups with various hand weapons and Police truncheons, so you don't need large tables at all. It's great!

Cheers Mate ;)

Superb!  :o

Where's the old dear with the basket from?

I converted an old 17th century figure by adding the coat and basket from Milliput. I can't remember who made the figure, it was laying in the bits box for donkey's years.

Many Thanks.

Also Thanks to everyone else for the wonderful comments  ;)
