Title: Largest number of 28mm figs on one table?
Post by: Bushbaby on 28 February 2017, 09:19:06 PM
Hi all!

I wonder if you would like to post links or images of really massive 28mm battles you have fought or are aware of?

This would be very interesting, especially as I soon might aspire on a position on the "biggest battle" list. So I need to know what I am up against :)

Cheers

Nearly 6,000 in one game.

Borodino, sure we have had bigger for some of our Peninsula games. Did an ECW game with 2,500 minis.

Ok, I am humbled. Seems like I will have to aspire on the title "biggest 16:th century Skandinavian battle"!

6000? Wow, that's nearly every unpainted figure I have!  lol

That's an impressive spectacle.

Very little 16th C stuff in our group so you should be safe. Our Samurai, ECW, SYW and Nap collections are very large.

I have amassed around 1000 figs now so maybe I can dominate that niche!

The big games at the Wargames Holiday centre had 10'000 plus

This was one small corner of a Leipzig battle

@Bushbaby: I'm impressed. No I'm stunned from this amount of awesome!

@topic: My largest battle was when I still went to school doing my A-Levels and we played on attic of a friend's parent's house.

It was a fantasy battle using the Fantasy Warriors rules from Grenadier (God praise them for bringing me into the hobby)

I had about 150 Barbarians, including a Battle Giant, two smaller giants, and a War Rhino, friend had 200+ Undead including undead Rhino, undead Mammoth.
Our enemies were about 120 Wood Elves, ca. 80 Men-at-Arms, 200 Dwarves and ca. 100 Orc Mercenaries, a Mercenary Giant and a Dragon.

All painted which I consider pretty impressive for late teens/young adults :)

Until I saw the 6000 models battle, I considered this an unforgetful event.

Biggest one I ever saw was at Historicon one time.
It was an Arthur game with 2,000 figures. Very impressive.

Single largest 28mm game I was ever involved in was a single day, 8 hour, "Bring your biggest army, no comp rules" Warhammer Fantasy 6th edition game. I showed up with my Greenskin Horde of about 350 figures, and there were 23 other players, ranging from 200 to 400 figures each.  It looked impressive, but holy toledo did it take forever to do a turn.

The Wartorn show had a huge game on with loads of miniatures.I cant remember the number but it might have been more than 6000.I am sure they had the Guiness book of world records go to see it.The game was a Napoleonic one with ships too.A layout.

At the first Oldhammer in the New World event in 2014 Orclord, of Stuff of Legends fame put on an enormous siege game...all the figures were from his own collection.  this was by far the most (Painted!) Warhammer fantasy figures I had ever seen on one table.....I doubt it comes anywhere near the numbers discussed above...but it was still a mighty impressive sight!

Check out the young guy that strolled past the game and just had to stop and get a worms eye view...

Cheers,

Blue

I think the most I ever personally fielded in English civil war games was about...200-250 models maybe...and I thought I was doing well...now I see I am still a sprat compared to the great Salmons and Tuna
