Title: What Free Giveaway Miniature for the RCW Supplement
Post by: Driscoles on March 03, 2009, 11:18:01 AM
Hi,

we are thinking to make a free giveaway figure for the RCW T+T supplement.

What personalities would you like to see ?

Trotzki, Lenin, common soldier in dramatic pose, Dr. Schiwago lookalike... etc.

Please post us your favourite.
Cheers
Björn

Well, there is a Nyet-Trotsky in the Copplestone range, so you wouldn´t have to do that one. I do not remember ever seeing a Lenin figure, maybe with that soft cap he wears in a lot of photos, or in the famous speech pose. In that case, people could also use it as a statue.

Apart from that, I´d also like to see a really good rendition of a Nyet-Zhivago, or maybe Lara...

I like Lenin best, for 2 reasons:
 - the other main characters of the conflict are already available (if I'm not mistaken there are already 2 Trotsky's! the good guy and the evil twin, although both have a goatee :D ) or there are a couple of look-a-likes.
 - Lenin is really easy to identify, even on lead! just need to have the proper beard, hand position and pamphlets!

PS: no matter who will be the chosen guy/girl! it's a splendid idea!  :)

Jurij Zhivago or Strelnikow. Another favourite of mine would be Machnow. Few will know him, but you could use him for a lot of pulpy scenarios.

Zhivago is such an icon, that'd be really cool.

There is always has to be one in the crowd!

My vote is for a revolutionary sailor with bandage head, holding banner and shouting back to the unit!

I like the idea about Rasputin. But I would prefer a Corto Maltese like Rasputin.
A very aggresive and evil one.
The idea about a free mini is splendid.

Looks like we need an RCW Character Pack (or two)!

Lon (Brigade)? Mike (Artizan)? Anybody?

What about a young Stalin !

Copplestone already has a pretty convincing one in their Bolshevik Commissars pack (left):

On a side note, does all of this talk mean that we'll see the RCW supplement soon?

Apparently we´re entering concise planning stage! ;)

Another suggestion, although I would like Lenin as well as Makhno: What about Comrade Nina Ivanovna Yakusheva? (http://www.doctormacro1.info/Images/Garbo,%20Greta/Annex/NRFPT/Annex%20-%20Garbo,%20Greta%20(Ninotchka)_NRFPT_03.jpg)

Not an immediate military context, but since she fought as a Sergeant at Warsaw... ;)

Hi Chris,

I can see her as a great option, armed with cooking pot and ladel urging the reds forward! Okay, It's nice to know you are also thinking of us girls too.  8)

I was also thinking about Kornilov who was inspirational an a key player at the start of the revolution.

Basic decency, m´lady! ;) :) More of a coincidence, though, since I recently rented "Ninotchka" from my local library to finally watch it, being a bit suspicious since I was thoroughly disappointed by a number of suggested "screwball classics", but this one is Billy Wilder at his best! And, well, you see "The Garbo" laugh.  lol

It's one of the best comedies ever. Lubitsch & Wilder have been a great team.

I've got it! You should of course do the pathetic young mum/nanny with the pram at the Odessa Stairs in the movie "The Battleship Potemkin"

I meangt ....good Idea Hammers.

Thanks for all your feedback. Iam still not sure what miniature and I guess we will vote for it as soon we have a couple of suggestions.
Lenin makes a good staue but seems a bit boring to me. I also like Mahkno. Well, we`ll see. My personel favouruite is a unknown soldier of either the red or white forces in dramatic pose.
