Here is the AAR and photos for a scenario from 'All Fine Men', the upcoming second Great War Spearhead Eastern Front supplement:

The action was part of the Battle of Gumbinnen, fought in August 1914. The battlefield is based on actual topographic maps of the area, reproduced using Hexon terrain under the terrain mat. You can see the effect in the photo entitled 'Rolling East Prussian countryside'. The terrain makes all the difference in a game like this, adding a level of complexity to the decision-making.
The figures are a mix of Heroics and Ros (Russian guns and some German infantry), Baccus (uhlans and some German infantry), and Irregular Miniatures (Russian infantry and cavalry; German guns).

Wonderful looking terrain. Very inspiring.

Lovely terrain. I am curious as to the make of the basic terrain mat...

The terrain mat is Mat-o-War, now sold by Atenocitis Workshop. I can only see the sand coloured version available on their web site though.

Thank you very much for the feedback. It is now possible to set up any WW1 battlefield, which is particularly good for these types of scenarios featuring more open warfare.
Last weekend was the 100th anniversary for the Battle of Vimy Ridge. We set up the whole battlefield in the lobby of the Canadian War Museum. Hundreds of visitors called by. The quality of the layout, which featured multiple trench lines, wire, etc, was a major plus. This is testament to the quality of terrain options that are available these days.
