Well the headline is really revealing
I saw the game at the Tactica in Hamburg, but I didn't care to bother the players, as it looked rather intense. In other words I have no idea what went on, as I don't speak a word german (almost).
Anyone care to share their view, if they tried it? and have a view?

Wasn't there, but I've had a chance to skim the rulebook.
I think that if you dump most of the rules for magic, it's a fast system capaple of handling large armies.

Strange, I'd actually been told that the magic part was good and warmasterish (which is also good to me :D)

Probably a matter of taste - I don't think that battle magic has any real justification in Middle-Earth. I never played Warmaster in its pure form, but have used the rules for napoleonics (without magic, goes without saying).

Is this a game other than the board game by Fantasy Flight?

You can download a "quickstart" version of the rules plus a scenario from the GW website:

Haven't had time to try it yet, but it looks pretty good and with these rules I might finally be able to justify my massive investment in their figures lol

Same here... pity I don't have time for painting all those minis... well, I have only 8 days left of my pro-longued employment in Copenhagen, so I might get all too much time, soon...
