I'm going to make my first caulk mat for solo Strange Aeons and been reading tuorials. Want to be as cheap as poss. Can anyone confirm if the normal loose weave drop cloths available in B&Q (uk) work fine or does it have to be more robust canvas? My local hardware store also has poly backed loose weave type dust cloths too for £9 which would be great if usable.
Has anyone used this type of dust cloth and can advise if it works okay?
Thanks :)

I used the plastic backed screw fix version . was 12x12 , cut in half to make two 12x6 rolls. Its took caulk and sand well

they do a range of sizes , down to a small version 6x 3 for £4

I used 12 tubes on my 12x6 sheet ... squeeze out a while tube and spread around and work it into the material then cover with sand and press it in and let dry .
I have had very little come loose I has held really well
