Well a change is as good as a rest so they say... And to make a break from my usual fayre of power armour and other assorted Imperial forces I decided to return to an older ongoing project and churn out some hybrids for my retro Genestealer cult force.

These bad boys are the original plastic hybrids from the Genestealer expansion to Space Hulk that was released in 1989. They are fairly simplistic and monopose as it goes ... In fact at the time I didn't really like them, but recently they have grown on me and I have churned out a fair few to reinforce my growing xenos hordes.

These make a nice change from my usual stuff and I'll probably look to paint up a few more in the near future.
There's a load more photos and details on my blog at:

Really like the paint job on them - elevates the quality of the figures themselves!

Cheers mate.
Yeah you need to spend extra time on these fellas or they can up looking quite bland.

They look good. I have one of these guys for an upcoming project ... just need to find some arms for him.

Nicely done!
I agree with those who say your paintjob really elevates the fig.

Those are lovely. There's something enjoyable about painting a simple miniature.

Very nice! I always liked those old models - are they the ones in beige plastic?
They're clean and uncluttered, unlike many more modern models, and the paint job here is the best I've seen on these, I think 8) 8) 8)

Cheers guys! Thanks for he kind words!
Yeah they are the ones in beige plastic.
As for the arms, they are a real issue; I have a few more to paint but no arms to put on them; they do turn up on eBay occasionally but it's becoeming less and less frequent. An option I am considering is getting the old original blue purestrains (still very common) and trimming down their arms to fit.
