Hi
As the title say, I am trying to find information on troop types and units belonging to the French army of Louis XI. I did find info on Burgundians and English, mainly Osprey books and great blogs, but the French are eluding me.
If such a topic was discussed in a thread time ago I must have missed it.
Thanks in advance :D

Check out Arlequin's blog, he has lots on the subject.

I do think it would make a great topic for an Osprey book too!

Thanks charlie :D

Thanks Charlie, your cheques in the mail. ;)
There's also Stuart's Army Royal blog: http://stuartsworkbench.blogspot.co.uk/
He covers the French at a somewhat later date (1513), but often uses earlier material to build his picture too. He uses pretty much the same sources as I do, but often interprets them differently and it's always good seeing things from another perspective.
I've never quite understood why the French are so neglected in this era, they were after all the army Charles the Bold modelled his own on when he started issuing his ordinances. They were typically militarily successful apart from Guinegate in 1479 too.

True. Osprey has Burgundians, Swiss and WOTR (all of these some of their best IMHO) but no French.
The reason for my interest is that I already did some swiss and would like to incorporate them in a french army. The only player here who has a medieval force has English so it's quite fitting.
