Title: Opel Blitz
Post by: ollberger on February 12, 2007, 10:10:03 PM
Although I have to fight with a bad cold, I couldn't resist to paint the Opel Blitz from Ebob Miniatures this afternoon.

I don't have much experience in painting vehicles. The last one I did was a WH40k tank and that is about four years ago. But I'm pretty happy with the result of the Opel:

Excellent! But shouldn´t the Flatbed be Dark Grey, too?  :?:

In case of a Wehrmacht-Opel, yes. But it's supposed to be a civil truck, so I guess it's okay. The colours may be a little bit falsified on the picture though, the grey is in fact  more blueish than the Wehrmacht-Grey.

Much better than a 40k-tank IMHO  . The weathering is great!

Ahh, now that´s clear. On my poor, old screen, it looks very grey, and the yellow convoy sign confused me. :) Superb weathering indeed.

Is the yellow pyramid on top of the cab a convoy sign?  I've been wondering what that is.  I've got an Opel Blitz from WestWind that I haven't put together yet.

I seem to recall that in upraised position, it signifies "Convoy Following" or "Convoy Duty". I´ll look it up to be sure, but it left an impression when I first read about it.

I don't like the wooden parts, looks too rushed. But the rest is very nice!

I don't want to know what could it be if you had more experience!!

The triangle should only be up when a trailer is being towed.

Its in civilian hands now - maybe the switch is broken and stuck in the "on" position!
