Title: Skulldred rises from the grave (DEMO VERSION LINK NOW UP)
Post by: Delaney on April 25, 2017, 01:18:08 PM
Hey adventurers.

Just wanted to share something I have been working on the past few days.  A free quickstart, cut down version of Skulldred beta 4 to go along with my panel appearance at GXAustralia.  It *should* be available in the next few days- I will post a link.

As you may know, Skulldred has been held up for years due to... shall we say, "an unending series of somewhat difficult life events".  I am actually going to be able to access the lost drives for the first time in over a year on Friday (see difficult life event #3 "all computers blew up") so with any luck I will have the near complete project back in my hands, and thanks to generous donations, a computer on which to complete it with (and set up the kickstarter to get it done.)

So just to refresh your memories, Skulldred is a mental arithmetic free skirmish ruleset for playing fast paced games using any minis you like.  It is designed specifically with players who suffer from ADD, Dyscalculia, short term memory problems and learning difficulties that usually make wargaming challenging.  Because of this, you can play it when you are tired and somewhat drunk too.

This new edition just has some pogs and pregenerated character cards, which you can switch out for your fave minis- the full rulebook has per character customization points system so you can tailor your profiles to match your minis.

So I will post a link once it is up.  Other than that, fingers crossed my hard drives survived and I can restore the full project.

I am gonna trash all the old websites, forums and other clutter and kick off with a fresh website soon- so ignore all that stuff for now.

It is gonna be soooo nice to finally get this baby born.

Sounds great!

System was promising and it's a good thing you're going to complete it.

And even a better thing you're back on track  :)

Yes Please! I've been hoping for this since I tried your last betaversion a few years ago.

I just missed out on some of the first beta-testing for Skulldred and have been anticipating its return basically ever since then  :D

Digging the very sleek and polished presentation on what you've shown so far, and absolutely looking forward to trying it out.

Love it! I have fond memories of getting Skulldred on the testing table several versions and many years ago. Can't wait.

Fabulous!  I remember playing earlier versions of this game.
It is always great to have a game I can play with my non gamer friends after we have all had a few drinks!

Here you are everyone- come and get it.

I rushed it out because it is 3am and I about to get on a bus to the conference where I am a guest speaker- soooooo, here it is warts and all.  Yes, typos and missing bits, some of the characters are missing so the sides are unbalanced... but uhhhg I need sleep.  :)

Post pics if you play below.  Also, don't worry about feedback- I will release a proper polished beta once I get back from GX and have time to do this properly.

Have fun with my baby!

Oh and don't fret- the "level" concept of hitting on level or lower is still in the advanced rules- just not in the basic play.  I really focused on making this as number free as possible.

Full points system, magic, generic quickstart cards, loot cards, scenery cut outs, and once again I am bringing in lots of indy mini companies to provide showcase chapters and deals on warbands.

Seems like a nice set of rules from what I can tell, and the presentation... reminds me a bit of Malifaux for some reason? Anyway, I liked all of it - well done, and thank you for sharing it. :)
