No idea what I'm going to do yet and I probably won't make a proper decision until I return from holiday next week.
Main choices are :-
GW Empire troops older sculpts & GW Skaven older sculpts
More VSF Japanese troops
More VSF British troops
Boshin War both sides
Fantasy Japanese theme
Rogue Trader Imperial Guard & Rogue Trader Orcs

Fantasy Japanese all the way! This is going to be the year of Japanese historical fantasy!
Or it's always good to see some skaven too
-
Not that this is a voting thread but ;) Skaven!!!
-
Love seeing you do Japanese projects but I can understand if you'd want a change of pace! lol. I need to actually stick with the AP project this year...totally screwed the pooch last year.
-
Whatever you'll do in the end, I'll follow your progress for inspiration ...
-
Right then, I think the choice will be Oldschool! As in, fantasy Empire and Skaven and also RT Imperial Guard and RT orcs :D
All four of these have been bubbling away in the background for sometime now and I've amassed quite a collection of each (photos to follow).
I will swap and change between them to help keep the interest fresh and try to keep the units small (ten figures or so at a time or one vehicle).
I already painted an Imp trooper and an orc sometime ago so the colour schemes for these are sorted (not the best photos).

I've also got some Empire and Skaven figures already painted but no pictures as of yet. I'll also need to sort out group shots of all four collections.

I'm interested to see which version of skaven you are painting. Really old school slaves perhaps?
-
Love the ork!
Waitm so you can do multiple forces? Hmm :D :D :D
-
Great stuff mate! :-* Those are still the best Guard figures to n my opinion! They're used to be some good beastmen/guard models around at that time too.
Surely you need some old skool armour to go with them too? ;)
-
Cheers fellas.
For the most part the Skaven are the Jes Goodwin sculpts 8)
Multiple forces as I'm a glutton for punishment ;D
Got some old rhinos, a pred or two, loads of orky bikes etc, a steam tank or two and a few crazy Skaven 'vehicles' (using the word in its loosest sense lol)
cheers

Got my first 'entry' done. Had it base coated for a while but it was a good one to get done first :)

Dunno what's going to be next though o_o

Awwww, memories! 8) Love the check pattern mate! Did that make you go bonkers? o_o
-
I like that a lot. I never had any Orks and the old RT ones hold so much more appeal than any of the versions that followed. I found my old Eldar stuff last night and instantly decided to keep it. I wouldn't mind some Orky opponents.
-
Cheers fellas :)
The check wasn't too bad as I had rivets around the edge of the hatch to help position them although the sculpt itself is a bit wonky lol
It's a bit difficult not to start collecting Eldar and SM's as well lol

Like the dread! Bad Moon is one of da bestest!
I'll look out for that Warboss on this thread... ;)
-
I cannot see the first pictures but go for it. :)

Don't worry mate, they'll get replaced. They were only old shots of previous figures to give a taste of what's to come.

Got the next entry primed, three rat ogres. Only one is 'oldschool' as the poses are a bit static but he'll count as a leader as I think the bigger the rat ogre the thicker he is lol

Nice project I will be keeping an eye on this

Great project

Cheers fellas :)
Let's just hope I keep the momentum going on this one lol

Excellent Dread Jim :D
-
That is a great start, mate.
:-*
I was delving in my bits boxes yesterday looking for stuff and found some Old Skool wotsits that you can have.
I shall dig 'em out again before I next see ya.
;)

Beer next week?
Sounds like a plan.
PM incoming.

Due to peer pressure I changed the dread base from green to red (it does mean I can use it on my Mars terrain).

In other news Augusts entry is nearly done, just some basing to finish them off :)

Now that does make sense.
Good thing that you have peers with some.
:D
Better dig those wotsits out for you later, hadn't L?
-
So nice with the painting and the bases!
-
Here's Augusts entry (if a bit early). I need to get a head start on a unit of ten Imperial guard, hence jumping the gun a little bit :D

I'll take some better photos in a day or two, still trying to sort out a decent photo set up.
cheers

Great beasties, mate.
I really like that fella on the left.
:-* :-*
-
Cheers fella, they are not exactly old school but all the old school rat ogres were pretty much the same :?
cheers
James
-
Nice! Old or not.
You're two entries down and the thing ain't even started
-
They look great :-* Will paint mine one day o_o
-
Well done James. :-* :-*
Keep it coming.
-
Thanks chaps :)
I'm getting ahead mainly to keep me motivated because I dropped out really early last year ::)
I've got Septembers offering assembled but they will need a little green stuff here and there and a bit more cleaning before the primer goes on. The lasguns have been left off so I can paint the regiment badges. They'll have the same red bases as the ork dreadnaught.

They're a blast from the past. I like these much more than some of the more recent offerings. I always wanted a beastman Imperial Guard force but never did it.
-
I've got the beastman sergeant (a lucky find at a bring and buy) but they seem to go for gold dust on eBay etc ::)
I've taken some fairly decent photos of the entry for August so will post them now as I might not get a chance tomorrow.

They have come out really well, mate.
Most impressive.
