Just found my elite orc/ goblin miniatures for my Tolkien Mordor Army, don't think these have been posted here already! These miniatures are for the new mass battle fantasy wargame by Osprey Games and Northstar Miniatures with plenty more metal and plastic kits announced already. The models as shown are the 3ups (the bases will be less thick) and will be produced in hard plastic. Should you be interested in checking the review of the plastic dwarfs you can check them on my Wargame News and Terrain Blog - http://wargameterrain.blogspot.be/2017/04/northstar-miniatures-plastic-fantasy_30.html

Posing is very uniform but those do look great!
-
Agree with the comment above but I'm sure their will be better build options and hopefull they will be compatible with Northstars other plastics.
-
Wow! Those look excellent: proper big fighting goblins! I wonder if there will be any short, broad-bladed swords in the kit, for Isengard purposes ...
-
I like those. Ill be getting some for sure.
-
I'll be all over those when they release. Excellent.
-
They are ok but not overly drawn to them. I always think of Shaun of the Dead with this style of goblin..." goblins can`t look up" ;D
-
I like them for the same reason I like Northstar's dwarves - they are generic but toward the grim side of generic.
-
I really like them. Very classic fantasy, not the super stylised Warhammer type which we have plenty of on the market. Looking forward to seeing the elves.
-
Those look great!
I'm hoping we hear something about the game soon.
-
I like those, I just wish they would ditch the integral bases. There is no practical reason for them and they take a lot of work to get them to look decent.
-
:-*Those minis remind me the old Lord of the rings animated movie from Ralph Bakshi, magnific classic style minis!! WIting more news about the game!! >:(
-
Definitely have to get some of these!
-
My, those scimitar are curved... Who's the sculptor?
-
Much better than the first one we saw - loving these. And no doubt the upcoming Elves as well.
-
The dwarves were OK (for Tolkien dwarves I prefer the Mirliton/Grenadier and Vendel/Sgt Major ones) but these orcs look the bees knees. This makes me hopeful for the elves, but I won't hold my breath as most fantasy elf sculpts are not good representations of Tolkien elves. I wonder which type of elves, if they are "Tolkien" ones, they will do; Noldor, Sindar or Silvan?
-

Giorgio Bassani if I'm not mistaken.
-
They do look rather nice. It is good to get away from the GW style. If they are somewhat interchangeable with the other northstar kits the possibilities are endless.
-

Gorgio Bassani has been doing recent plastic sculpting for NorthStar so I imagine they're his work.

Michael Anderson.

I like them. A nice, classic look. If you can have a classic look for goblins.

I am pretty excited for these and the dwarves.

Precisely why I like them. Not stylized like LOTR, and not overstylized like GW. Just classic Hero Quest-esque goblins. Just what I need for my dungeon crawl, etc.
-
They do look like the old Rankin Bass cartoon.
Really excited to see this game!

They look great!

These are fantastic, as has already been said, they would be a perfect fit for Middle Earth (Tolkien's version, not Peter Jackson's).
I've always been put off of plastic figures (or any multi-part figures), I'm a gamer, not a modeler. But these might tempt me.
-
I agree with many here, they are tempting for the unstarted not-Jackson LotR project that has been gathering lead to it the last few years. I, too, want to see the elves.

Yes, why? They make absolutely no sense.
-
Pretty good. Those look like they would fit in fine with either the brilliant old Mithril Tolkien Orcs or the excellent Bronze Age "Frazetta-style" Orcs.
Anyway. Nice box. Would be good to know if they are compatible with the other Northstar boxes. I'm looking at you Frostgrave cultists!
-
Shorter legs would make them excellent Tolkien orcs. What a pity!
The Perry metals from early GW LOTR range are still the best in my opinion.
-
Why are the integral bases so thick? Is that just part of a prototype process or something?

These are the 3-ups, and while I'm sure there is a technical reason for the bases being that thick at this stage, all I know is that the end result will be much, much thinner!

That's what I figured, since the bases as-is, by proportion, are glaringly thick. I just seem to recall other 3-ups having thinner bases. Thanks for confirming.
In any event, I like the sculpts, and it's nice to see some old-school, generic fantasy goblins in chainmail. All of this originality for the sake of originality has been killing me.
