Hi all,
Today I had prepared an Egypt and Sudan scenario and we were invited to Miltiades' home.
Before I post the game AAR in another thread
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=102556.0
I would like to share with you the excellent work Miltiades has done to his town!
-
The town gate
-
A general overview of the town... Souks, narrow alleys, marketplace... A 15mm eye candy!
-
...from time to time he was showing me parts of his work, but, when I saw it all together, wow :-*
I felt more than obliged to sit down and make a thorough photo reportage!
Astonishing details! Look at the weathered walls!
-
A minaret. The muezzin calls the faithful.
-
Topcapi? Eh... Taj Mahal in miniature?
-
In some corner, you may find even a small cemetery!
-
Shops here and there, selling everything!
-
I called this building "the hamam". Miltiades' love for detail! Scratchbuilt, as well!
-
The palace. Look at the detail! Shields with arabic inscriptions!
-
Fruit sellers and rug sellers and robe sellers... A thriving town!
-
Merchants from afar, set their tent in the middle of the street!
-
Even a garlic seller! :o
Many congrats Miltiades! You must be proud for this fine job!
My honor to be your friend!
-
Italeri Caravan Sarai. well done!
-
Impressive layout, even more so for being in 15mm 8)
cheers

Thank you!
I will provide the AAR link of the battle, as soon as I finish elaborating the pictures!

Wow, absolutely fantastic job! And so useful for multiple periods and even settings -- Crusades, Napoleon in Egypt, various campaigns in India or even Kabul, Kandahar, etc. in my own favorite Afghanistan -- not to mention the potential for "Pulp" style games. Thanks for posting, and I'm very much looking forward to the upcoming Battle Report involving such terrain!
-
thank you so much Din for everything. Great pics!

yes it's true. Arab towns can be used almost for every period in history ;) Even for the thousand Arabian nights

Thank you for your kind words! When finishing the battle, I picked several fortified walls and buildings and I made a small Alamo-style (or Mexican or Colonial Spanish) fort! Useful for multiple periods, I agree!

thank you so much Din for everything. Great pics!
You are the man, man! lol

Just beautiful!
What was the game? The scenario?

The game was a Khartoum-style Sudan colonial game in 15mm. You please allow me time for tomorrow to post the thread, (scenario, AAR and pics) as for the moment I'm working on the photos we took during the game! A demain alors! :)
By the way, here the time is 01:00 morning :)

Miltiades is working before 2011 bit by bit to make this town, but the result is rewarding! Don't you think?

hello friends,
just returned from holidays and here I am ! Din the Din Thanks for the presentation of the town and the game. Yes it took me years to complete it and I have still a lot to do...
It is a 15mm most of it scratch [of course you will recognize the ITALERI Arab fort [20mm but fits perfectly for 15mm] and the Taj Mahal paper work. All other houses and constructions are scratch-built from balsa wood [very hard to use and not recommended for small constructions] and corck [easy to use and highly recommended]. Most figures are Essex and Peter Pig 15 mm. Carpets are photocopied miniatures of real ones made by Din the Din. hope you ejoyed it...

Here is your city in 2011 when we played Khartum and the second picture is from the game last week...
You made an awesome effort and even I was surprised, old chap! :P
So, I felt that your job was worth a small portfolio lol

Crikey. Give that man several medals.
-
Miltiades sent me a few very nice pictures he took with his mobile
Town overview from another angle
The carpet market and
The famous garlic seller!
Fine scratchbuilt little things!
-
very very nice

Gorgeous Terrain there Din! :-* :-* Love the rug seller and market stalls.
A whole city man!!! Wowzers. One of the benefits of 15mm hey being able to produce so much terrain.
In those first pics the table looks right at home in a room with purple curtains and chandelier. ;)
Cheers
Matt

Plutarch says that when Themistocles was asked why he changed his way of life, he answered: I can't sleep after the trophy of Miltiades (in Marathon). He was strongly motivated after this and he put his best to win the Persians in the naval battle of Salamis.
Neither can I sleep, but it must be the summer heat lol
Here, the trophy goes to Miltiades, who created the city, I was just the photographer...
This lucky chap is tanning somewhere, while I am boiling in the office lol

Thank you very much Matt. That is why I love 15mm scale. We can play Khartoum or Omdurman [large cities with many hundreds of miniatures on the table in my living room-and enjoy a dinner afterwards ;)
-
lol
Din you are a riot. Hope the night is a bit cooler for you.
