Decided to repaint my old armour company and this is the beginning, well two of these I built 15, or more, years ago and only just got round to painting them. This could take a while as there's a lot more stuff than I remember.
I've also learnt I can't remember how my camera works :P

Lovely stuff dude jealous of your forgeworld hydra :)
-
Niiice, good combo of colours and I like the use of an old barricade for the Leman Russ 'ram'.
-
Nice painting.
So what has prompted the repaints?
-
Cheers for the compliments chaps.
So what has prompted the repaints?
Strangely, I was looking for my dark angels librarian Ezekiel figure, who can only be found when you don't want him for any reason what so ever, when I was looking through the boxes of guard tanks and steel legion and thought I keep meaning to get on with these, five minutes later I'd taken the top two off a shelf, started painting and it's kinda snowballed from there. I'm not even sure how much I've got to do, at least another 11 Russ hulls and 6-ish chimera, it also doesn't help that a few of them are old conversions so I've been going back tidying up some of the work, making it look a bit neater, missing some bits completely like the back of the Russ till it's too late for me to be bothered to go back and fix it. :D

Like the bocage-clearing device welded to the front of the Russ! Very WW2!
-
Well a couple more have made it through, a standard Russ and a heavily modified Exterminator.
And though I don't regret painting the company markings on all of them, I do both rue and lament it.
I think the photos are getting worse.

good start

I really like the modified exterminator. Looks really cool as a command vehicle.
I played against an armoured company a long time ago, when they were still a citadel journal army list. The club I went to was reluctant to let anyone use a non'official' army list, so I never got to play my harlequins. So the guy with the armoured company and I decided we'd pit our 'nonofficial' armies against each other, the results were one of the most memorable games I've ever had. The game closed with me having a single harlequin with haywire grenades in one corner and him having a single basilisk in the opposite corner. Could my harlequin make it across before a flying dustbin landed on his head?
-
I had similar once, except my basilisk had no weapons left and was trying to run everyone over before it got destroyed. :D
I always thought of the exterminator as the Commissars tank, i've actually got another two with extended hulls that are in the queue for repaint.

Looks cool :)

Whats the 3rd tank in the first set of pics called?

It's a Leman Russ Destroyer a forgeworld conversion kit, it doesn't seem to be available at the moment.
-
Thanks. I checked on Forgeworld to try and find out , that's why I asked.Isn't it a pretty old kit, like one of the first they did? Maybe its getting redone.
Thanks again,Pete
-
yeah, I bought it soon after it came out, along with the hydra kit, so pretty quick progress from me for painting them. ;)
-
the colour idents at the front really gives them that old school 2nd edition feel
-
Yeah it's a good way to unify the army, and it looks good which is always a bonus.
-
Well, Finally got a few more things painted and pictures taken.
Another expanded vanquisher and a predator for the Angels of Vengeance
-
The greatest armour is of course faith in the Emperor, and a purity dangler.
Also a few test units to accompany the predator, not finished yet as they need the squad/company markings added.
-
Awesome work all-around. Do you have more picture of that extended Vanquisher? Guess you sacrificed 2 Leman Russ to do that the tracks and sides. How did you extend the hull of the tank itself?

Cheers, it was done in the days when you could buy individual sprues, so I didn't end up with too many spare parts. The extension was done by cutting the front of the hull piece off and adding a bit of plasticard in the gap. you might be able to see it in the few pictures I've added, you can see on the hull side where I didn't think about where I cut it, looks a lot neater on the later tanks.

Thanks for the explanation and the pictures, that helps a lot. I think I have enough bits to do something similar :D Keep up the good work.

The monstrous anger of the guns, well gun.
I really should get some infantry done at some point.
