Welcome to Fleatown,
After watching too many episodes of the Walking Dead we decided to start this new project, a suburban area called fleatown somewhere on the way to Alexandria...

the webside trafficsigns.us has not only all the signs we need but also offers the right fonts to make some new signs

a scratchbuild garage, the first building on the gaming mat from Deep Cut Studio

a billboard and the first ttcombat building, suburban house B, under construction

and the greatest threat of all...

Great stuff! Like the pooch too :)
-
Great looking work!!! And a very sweet looking puppy!!!

Today the Dinogas Filling Station by ttcombat is nearly finished.

Well done. I especially like reading some of your signs and posters lol
-
Love your setup.
Look forward to following what you do next.
-
Very good.
-
Cool!

Nice details on the layout. How do you like the mat from Deep Cut Studios? I haven't seen any reviews on the Walking Dead mats they have done. On Modern mats I always worry the roads may not be wide enough. From the pictures it looks like you got the single piece mat not the one cut up into smaller squares.

Thank you very much for your comments, this will keep me motivated.
@Audrey
I am very happy with the mat. It has the right mix of streets, a small railway track and other areas and everything is a little bit dirty, so ist perfect for walking dead. I bought the single piece mat, because my gaming table is a little bit too short to lay out all tiles and I was unsure if the single tiles will all lay flat on the table. You are right about the width of the streets. There is a hugh difference between the width of the Deep Cut Studio mat and the mat included in the Mantic starter set.
I made pics with a 1:50 truck, some 1:43 smaller cars and an old matchbox standard size car model (maybe 1:72 to 1:87). The width of the streets are a little bit underscaled and will better fitt to HO-scale I think.

Very shabby (in a good way) - the dead leaves are a nice touch
-
Very nice I cannot wait to see the boats you will make. Also please post pictures of any game utilizing this board
-
Love the camp. Awesome.
-
That is rather fine! Would love to play a game with that on the table!
-
Wowsers, that camp looks a cracker! I really like the dried leaves scattered about. :-* :-*
Cheers
Matt
-
As others have said - awesome stuff in this thread.
-
Excellent stuff in here, thanks for posting
-
Thanks everyone, glad you like it!
Next was the idea to build a small abandoned hunting lodge.

we were not happy with the result, because it looks to new, so we burned it!

and ended with this

Build then burn :o What a great set piece. It looks fantastic.
-
That is one way to obtain realism.
-
What a brilliant idea! It worked out too! :-* :-*
Cheers
Matt.

Thank you very much for your comments!

Nice touches on that building. Love that door!
-
Burning scenery!
Holy Crap! That is some serious method terrain building. I have not seen that before and I am not sure I would have the courage to do it myself. How long did you let it burn? I would immagine that balsa wood and popsickle sticks would burn in a flash.

Hi, we used a hand torch. Ist hot but the flame is so small that it will take several seconds before the wood will burn.

I think that burned shack is truly awesome! I'd have never thought of actually setting a building on fire, but it sure worked!!!
Did you spray it with a clear coat afterwards to preserve the look and also to prevent ash rubbing off?

Hi, i used a lot of army painter dark tone to darken the wood and to seal the burned areas.
-
Nice detail work on the distribution centre.
Admittedly I wondered why it was named in honour of a Yugoslav reggae band (yes, series five booby trap).
I cannot quite see the emergency poster.

Is that the AP Wash or the AP Quickshade? And it looks absolutely brilliant :o

Wow that looks awesome!
-
Totally awesome. I thought with the reflection on the glass table you had made a coastal scene.
It's also taken me a while to realise that it's seperate elements that you can rearrange - well done.
(PS - I pushed my TWD project work aside to finish a few other things - my pace is going to increase as I really want to get back to it now.)
-
Seriously hot !
-
Thank you very much for your nice comments!
Meanwhile we are trying to build a coal mining complex for our next walking dead game outside of Fleatown.
