Title: Fistful of Lead...
Post by: Harry Faversham on August 20, 2017, 09:43:19 AM
Drums Along The River!

Tuesday's game will feature a marooned stagecoach surrounded by hostile Indians. Luckily Doc Pearson will be aboard to tend wounds and deliver a pregnant ladies's baby. the driver and travelling Cavalry Occifer, will be all that stand between the Redskins and a gory massacree!
Sometime during the long, hot and dusty day, a Cavalry bugle will sound heralding the arrival of the Powder River patrol... the same bugle will attract The Great Lame Beaver's War Party to see wot all the commotions about!

Can I ask, have you made activation tokens to replace the mdf ones in the set or just use as is,I know some gamers like to make scenic tokens and I was fishing for ideas,I have the Horse and Musket set  :)
Cheers

Harry did you break you stagecoach just for a game - now that's dedication.

Is it the 4 ground one?

Looking forward to the game report

Yep, it is the 4Ground model. The front wheel assembly is held in place cleverly by magnets, so it's easy to dismantle then pose as if wrecked... I nearly broke it with the killing hands several times while trying to build the bleedin' thing!

At the moment we keep track of activations with rather clunky looking markers that I'm not right happy about. This will be rectified next visit to the range when an activated bloke will get a shiny brass .22 rimfire case stood next to him... much more in keeping with a lead slinging game. One wound gets a little white skull, two wounds warrants a nice blood splatter... the bigger the better for the more loathsome combatants! Out of ammo is a plastic bullet marker marked... 'ammo'!

Cheers - i bought the warbases one and it looks a little on the small side to me but im not really sure how big they were. So looking foward to seeing yours with some figures for scale

Your pictures seem to have disappeared in the mean time.

Here's the 4Ground Stage with a couple of figures for scale. The building is one of our very own, has.been's creations, much better looking than owt laser cut. I think he's still got some Wild West buildings if any body is after some.

We sometimes lose track when the action starts, this looks the part. For Horse and musket a full size lead ball next to the figure would look the dogs!

Figure activated...

Harry this isn't good enough, 3 poxy photos and we was expecting a game report with pictures and writing and stuff. ;)

Thanks for the comparison photo, it looks like the 4 ground stage is bigger than the warbases one and certainly better painted than mine lol

The good Doctor and his motley crew headed away from the wrecked Stagecoach north along the dried up river bed...

"It's quiet."

Said the Driver...

"Too quiet."

Said Lootenent Penell...

THUDUNKKK!!!

The arrow took him right in the chest, removing one of the only two men really capable of defending the passengers, the other one, the driver followed suit quicksharp. Though it took two 'arrers and a smack in the melon with a tomahawk to do fer him. What followed was not pretty, very short and very desperate, and soon all six scalps were on the Redskins belt. of the tardy Powder River Patrol there was nary a sign. As the afternoon wore on, the desecrated bodies of Doc Pearson and his companions stiffened in the sun, and that's how young Cohill and the Powder River Patrol found 'em...

"It's quiet."

Said Corporal Quayne...

"Too quiet."

Said Lootenent Cohill...

THUDUNKKK!!!

The arrow took him right in the chest and young Cohill would never make Captain in five or six years. Whooping and a hollerin' The Great Lame Beaver charged in at the head of his War Party. He'd had a vision  that morning of blue coated soldiers falling like logs. Thing the Great Manitou forgot to show him was wot an excellent shot Corporal Quayne was with a Carbeen... he was in the Happy Hunting Grounds before he had chance to sing his Death Song! His deemise spurred the Dog Soldiers into a frenzy and in very short order Quayne fell alongside all his young Troopers...
There was much singing, feasting, and many a Wardance that night in the lodges of the Cheyenne!

:'(
