Ok so this thread will document my building of a Presidio for my Zorro, Comanche and Texas Rebellion games in and around San Antonio de Bejar and Alta California in the 1820s-30s.
Some of you may know I built a fairly sizeable collection of Adobe buildings many years ago most of which can be found on various threads on this forum. Well I haven't built anything Adobe related for probably three or four years. Inspired by Furt's wonderful warehouse for his pirate games (found in the Floucy shirts board) I decided to build something again.
I am running a Zorro game at this years BLAM so thought it would be an appropriate time to drag myself from the doldrums and actually make something. This thread will serve to document my progress or lack of it! and hopefully provide me with the necessary inspiration to get it finished in time!
I'm using this wonderful picture as a guide. For one thing it will not be as decrepit and in such a state of disrepair. Mine will be freshly rendered at the expense of the heavily taxed peons!
Anyway enough rambling, off we go!

I look forward to following this one!
-
I,ll be following this thread with interest, I remember the previous builds .
-
Me too! I love adobe buildings (you have seen some of mine)
And the Presidio is very challenging! Really wonderful!
-
And well at work instead of discussing ::)
-
Ooh! Looking forward to this build, and then seeing it at Blam too . :)
-
Looking forward to this :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Hurry up
-
Excellent. Looking forward to seeing it develop.
-Michael
-
Woo-Hoo!
I really like the look of the place.
Following this.
:D
As an aside: I finished the Texian Iliad yesterday and it has given me enough impetus to be digging out the bits for the long planned hacienda as soon as I get the time.
Thanks for the recommendation, it was a very enjoyable read..
:)
-
Looks very interesting. How big will it be?
-
Will follow this thread with interest.
Side question - what started your interest in this period?
-
This looks good, will be following this with great interest.
-

Don't know yet, it's still in the planning stage ;) lol
-
Will follow this thread with interest.
Side question - what started your interest in this period?
Zorro. -Disney.
Davy Crockett and the Alamo- Fess Parker and John Wayne.
:)

Looking forward to this, notebook at the ready :)

Looking forward to this, notebook at the ready :)
It's partly your fault as well. Your Conception mission certainly spurred me on. ;)
-
Great idea. Looking forward to seeing it.
-
Surging ahead with this now! lol
So the plan is roughed out on the base board.
Approx 40cm x 40cm not including the bastion which is 22cm x 12cm. Overall base board is 50cm x 55cm
You can see the various doors, windows, gates and gun positions. These may change as the built develops. There will be a barracks block and stables along the wall by the bastion.
Next cut the baseboard to size and chamfer the edges.
-
That is all ever so neat and tidy, nothing like my own efforts.
::) :D 8)
-
A grand start :)
-
Oh, this'll be delicious...carry on!
-
Waiting with baited breath, really looking forward to this :)
-
Already decided to extend the board slightly to include an outside corral and covered area perhaps including a horno overn. lol
-
It's huge! :o
-
I never saw any of the other builds develop real time, so am looking forward to this a lot, especially as I'm just finishing a small arid/dessert board and will need some adobe buildings to fit.
Be prepared for questions ;) :D
-
It's partly your fault as well. Your Conception mission certainly spurred me on. ;)
Oh. Sorry. I feel guilty now.
Hmmmm .
Ok, over that, get a move on, more photos now! lol
-
Its starting to look the size of a table not just one building
Nice start
-
What do you intend to do with storage for it.?
-
What do you intend to do with storage for it.?
Find a big enough box lol
All my stuff is in the loft.... ;)
-
OOh that will look good.

Hahaha oh Mamma, that's classic. lol Make it BIG!!
Cheers
Matt
-
Individual stones? ;)
Look forward to seeing this progress.
-
Baseboard cut to size, overall measurements 60cm x 55cm at widest points.
I decided to add a run down corral and lean to at the side which will allow me to use some mud Bricks and timber to form the corral wall.. The idea will be its fallen into disrepair. The lazy Soldados cannot be bothered to repair it..
I'll probably relocate some of the doors and the gate next to the bastion needs reworking. Anyway next up Foamcore and cutting of the walls. Probably my least favourite part. lol
-
Is that not just the floor plan of a property up for sale at Miles Residential copied direct from the brochure?
I second Rays call for individual stones, much more authentic than foam core sheets.
-
Looking forward for this. :)
Will follow with great interest.

No I do not think otherwise it would have indicated the bathroom, the laundry room, the children's room is more seller.
Other than that nice job Nick
-
Fabulous project Nicholas.
But shouldn't you be basing Frenchies instead of building ever huger adbobe structures? lol
I think this one's going to be spectacular though... Perhaps it will do for the Peninsula too? ;)
-
But shouldn't you be basing Frenchies instead of building ever huger adbobe structures? lol
Yes, I feel very guilty, but the lure of the adobe just got th better of me. lol
-
Blimey, it is getting bigger every day.
:o :o
Nice progress, Señor.
An absolutely exquisite base board.

I wonder, once he has finished it, will he use the pictures to illustrate the 'time-shares' on offer in Spain...?

He uses that picture for the 'Spanish Time Share' option.
;)

Very cool, Nick!
-
and follows it ?? go go!!! Nick ;)

Today's progress: all buildings cut out and assembled except the bastion. That should be quick as it will only have one door and no windows.
When that's done the fun starts. The part I enjoy the most is adding the timber work; doors, windows, gates etc. That's when I think the model starts to come alive. More next week!

this seems very good ;D
-
Ooh this is taking shape nicely. :-* :-* Looking forward to seeing it come together.
-
Looking good, and suitably massive. Now you're tempting me into making one :-*
One question, third photo down, will you internally brace a room that big?
-
Looking really good, following with great interest.

No real need to, once the roof is in place it's pretty rigid, remembr it will be glued to the baseboard as well. I've not had any issues on any built so far.
-
Missed all this. :-*
Looking great so far. Can't wait to see doors and windows go in.
-
a picture with a figurine to see the scale would be well ;)
-
I am impressed by the progress. It is all coming along very nicely. It is going to be a terrific piece when it is done.

Looking very nice idea, sir.

Big bugger, aint it?
You are gonna need a bloody big box!

I love looking at threads like this after I built a small water tower and felt some sense of accomplishment...(turns around and throws water tower in the corner) lol

Work continues with all the buildings cut out and assembled. The bastion has been finished today and some parapets added around the main gate entrance, and various other locations. The final position of the horse corral and outside walled enclosure is not finalised yet. The aim is to have a ramshackle set of walls and improvised fencing along with a horno (oven).
All the rough edges will be covered once it's rendered. Next will be cutting doors, windows etc which is my favourite part. However progress has slowed up due to me slipping a disc in my lower back this week, so I have laid up in bed for three days...

Are you using talcum powder?
(For the rendering I mean, not your back... )
:D
A mighty construction there Nicholas... no wonder you've hurt your back. All that heavy foamcore board... ;)
-
Nice buildings. :-* :-*
This presidio will look great.
What?????
The comanches have been comissioned?????
:o :o :o
And i wont even joke about your back... lol
On second thoughts... ::)

-
Great looking mate - this is going to be epic! :-*
Interested if you do use SI's talcum method. Can you do some work in progress shots if you do?
-
I hope your back gets better soon. I burst the disc in my lower back and I had about two years of pain (you might recall the BLAM where my cocktail of painkillers and beer wasn't so clever!). It's worth paying for some physio to get things moving again.
Great job on the real estate too.
-
Its huge no wonder you have a sore back
Looking great keep up the good work
-
Looking good Nick, well done. Hope you recover from your back ailment soonest.
-
Good progress today with all the doors and windows complete on the left hand set of buildings.
In this pic you can see the windows under construction. All doors and windows are exactly the same sizes on all my models which gives a uniformity to the builds but also makes it easy to remember dimensions for repetitive cutting.
The front does look rough where it's been cut and glued. I mask all joins with masking tape prior to rendering. This helps disguise joins. ;)
I back all the windows with black card, in this case painted Foamcore. I prefer to do this than leave the windows open. I understand the professionals use this method lol

Tomorrow I will start on the righ handset of buildings. Hoping to complete them in one day. Then all will be glued to the baseboard in readiness for rendering.
-
Nice progress.
I like the rough edging on the boards, a classy touch.

Really awesome build you've got there. It's been inspiring following the thread even if I don't have too much interest in gaming the genre.
-
Great stuff :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Like the black boards idea may have to steal that
-
Love how you did those doors.
-
Great progress report, really enjoying this Nick :)
-
Very good job with the woodwork!
Cheers!
-
Looking very good. :-* :-*
-
The doors look great Nick - very inspiring.
-
Exceptional work. I can't wait to see the finished project. ;D ;D
-
Execellent Nick - you're rather good at this :-*
I particularly like all the small details that have gone into the doors - most inspirational. 8)
-
A run through of the rendering process would be gratefully received. Your final effect always looks so much neater than anything that I've tried!
-

Yep, I will certainly do that. I'm intending a step by step to show the whole process. Will be doing more today. :)
-
That's nice build! The doors are in particular fantastic.
-
nice work as usual
-
Second set of buildings all doors and windows added. Thats all the woodwork complete except the timber parapet around the tower and I intend to add a raised step inside for some extra detail.
I also need to addthe external detail of the horse corral. I can't decide whethe to go with upright sticks or a more conventional western style corral. ???
Here is a step by step guide showing the door construction. It's nothing special or clever, but thought you'd like to see how they come together.
First adding the door frames:
With the detail added the door is glued to the original shape cut from the Foamcore. I think it strengthens the bond having the extra depth
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/29/86_10_09_17_7_07_05.JPG)
And now in situ:
Overview of this set of buildings ready to attach to the baseboard.

So tomorrow it's being fixed to the baseboard, masking joints and then rendering.
-
They are some wonderful openings, sir.
:D
The step by step should also prove very handy.
This is all coming together very nicely.

Really effective doors. Nicely done indeed.

Absolutely awesome :-* :-*

We thank you for your instructive step-by-step presentation!
Very nice door and window woodwork, eager to see the rendering!
-
This is coming along really well, great stuff!
-
This is coming on beautifully. Thanks for the step by step guide to windows and doors. That is a technique I am going to have to try out. Looking forward to seeing the rendering.

All the rough edges will be covered once it's rendered. Next will be cutting doors, windows etc which is my favourite part. However progress has slowed up due to me slipping a disc in my lower back this week, so I have laid up in bed for three days...
Oww, fuck! I hope you are alright now, Nick.
-
You're really motoring and that's looking great.
I've got some foam board and some balsa. So, all I need to do is slip a disc and mine will be that good?
-
Much better thanks Pedar.
Small update this am. The buildings are now glued to the base board and the Horse corral and outside walls are complete. Horse corral posts made from cut down and shaped kebab skewers.

Progressing very nicely, but.....
....working on it on a Monday morning?
:o :o
Is this 'slipped disk' real, or just an excuse to get a week off of work so you can work on the building?
I think you have been rumbled, sir.
;D
-

;D
in fact the secret to succeed in a building like this is to make him lie in his bed with a hot water bottle lol
-
Awesome build :-*
-
Lovely detailing on the fences.
-
Ok. So it's now ready for rendering. All joins have been masked off and sealed. Don't ask me why I do it. It makes the edges sharper, you don't see the joins so easily and I believe it's stronger and more chip resident. I have no idea if it works, but have done it e very time so am not going to stop now. lol
Rendering tomorrow :)

I do the same with the masking tape and I'm equally unsure if it makes a difference, but I don't dare not doing it!
-
Most cool 8)
Question: why do you add the main gates after rendering?

Most cool 8)
Question: why do you add the main gates after rendering?
After rendering I sand all the rendered surfaces to give a smooth finish. I don't like the finish if it's too rough.
There is less chance of damaging any gates etc and also it's easier and qucker to render a flat surface than work around gate posts. The doors and windows have to go in before though as they are sunk into the surface. :)
-
Looks great Nick,I can also see Texians defending this against Mexican regulars too,a mini Alamo if you will, the new scaling ladder troops will be great,I wonder if the minis ladders be long enough though . I guess they will, you would have taken all this into account beforehand ;) :)
Great build :-*

excellent idea the masking tape why I did not think about it

lol lol
-
I'm tempted to shamelessly copy the whole design for one of my own. ;D
-
Not sure I'd want to copy the whole thing, but I am certainly going to use some of the techniques when I start to build my Italian Wars and re-build the Pirate terrain.
Great work Nick. I like the idea of shaving the kebab skewers to give them a more rough and ready feel. Looking forward to the rendering.
-
Ok, so the most labour intensive task is complete -the rendering, its not my favourite part of the build!, It has taken me 7 hours to get it finished. There's no point in rushing it, so I just zoned out and imagined the games we're gonna have with it. lol
Take one large tub of filler and a palette knife. Add lots of water until you have a runny mix. It needs to spread easily, and therefore lots of moisture in it.
Here you can see the filler being added to the walls. I use a really thin layer, continually using the palette knife to even out the surface, being careful around doors and windows.
The secret is to keep adding droplets of water from the palette knife onto the wall to continually smooth the render.
Trying to show you how runny the mix needs to be:
Working around a door:
And here around the wall:
Now it's starting to take shape. The next stage will see it really come to life. I will wait until the filler is thoroughly set, probably 48 hours. Along the tops of the walls I add a really runny amount. As this is quite deep it takes time to dry.
Then I take sandpaper and sand all the roughness out of the render, along the walls, edges, tops of walls etc to get a really smooth finish.
Here it is drying out. Note the tops of the walls will be a lot smoother once the render is sanded.
No sanding next, followed by base texture/sand and stone mix then onto painting and final woodwork additions. Still lots to do, but well on schedule for BLAM in October. :)
-
Now it is really starting to take shape.
Proper job.

My advice is stay away from Malamute towers this weekend or you will end up sat with sandpaper in hand ;D :D

Gert lush. You are the king of the adobes!
Now, back to basing the French... :D
-
Keep at it Nick it's going to be the dogs doodahs when it's finished :)
-
I'm imagining the games you are going to have with it, too!
-Michael
-
Wonderful - your buildings truly are works of art. Can't wait to see this one finished and in the center of a game :)
-
AH - a really runny mix - that's your secret!!
Looking great Nick. :-*
-
That's looking really good and a helpful how-to.
Damn! Now I want to make one.
-
A mighty fine piece there, well rendered :)
-
That explains why mine was a lot rougher, my mix wasn't nearly as runny. ;D
-
That explains why mine was a lot rougher, my mix wasn't nearly as runny. ;D
Maybe, a runny mix followed by lots of smoothing over as it dries, I also dip the palette knife in water and add that as I smooth it. It seems to help. Followed by a good rub down with sand paper when its completely dried.
-
Looking great already, and the corral is quite OK, too.
If you use a more runny plaster strength, doesn't that warp the foamboard beneath, or can it be avoided?
-

Not once have any of the buildings ever warped on me. And I have made loads of these. lol
I supposed due to the structure being very rigid with small surface areas, pinned on the joints, held in place by inset roof pieces etc it has never presented a problem.
-
Ohhh! That's going to be great! I can't wait to see it with all the final wee touches you put on your builds! I'm just gutted I won't see it in the flesh this October! :'(

What he said.

Sadly the original structure you are basing this on (which was located about 12 miles south of where I am now) is completely gone. It had an interesting history and served as a bastion against hostile indian raids even during the American Civil War. The site is now the center of an artist's colony, and the original mission/church is intact and is one of Arizona's more popular tourist stops.

Don't you mean 'how many Pounds to the Peso'...?
;D

AzSteven, thank you for the info, very interesting to see another artists impression of the Tuscon Presidio. :)
Mine is very much an interetation, but looks reasonably recognisable as to it's original design.

Looking brilliant Malamute ! :o
Well done :)
Alan

That is looking really good. Thanks for the tips about the runny mixture. Just what i need when I re-do the pirate town.

What a wonderful build! :-*
Now, what about those lift-off roofs to allow minis inside too? o_o ;)

Not happening! lol
I hate to see a gap between the roof and the building as there is never a tight enough fit ;) lol

I understand that well, that can be truly annoying! lol
But for gameplay, you plan on using interior floor plans just in case?

I understand that well, that can be truly annoying! lol
But for gameplay, you plan on using interior floor plans just in case?
Usually in our games the bloodbath usually occurs outside so there is no need for interiors! lol
Yes if the need arises I would use a floor plan, However most of our games involve groups or squads of figures. We don't play much 1-1 skirmishes (Zorro being the only exception) so I can't thinhk of many instances where the exact location of the figure is necessary.
-
I too do not like lift off roofs, not only is there a 'gap' , but also two other reasons:-
1) Most wargaming buildings are under-scale, you should have 1" inside for every cm outside, something only Dr Who
would be able to achieve;
2) Floor plans let you change the interior easily. One long room (last game) can quickly become 3 small rooms (this game).
-
Looking Fab Malamute! 8) 8) 8)
2) Floor plans let you change the interior easily. One long room (last game) can quickly become 3 small rooms (this game).
Good point has.been, I hadn't thought of that aspect.
I really like buildings with interiors as it provides more gameplay options, but I just think personally the compromises required to do it makes it impractical. Your suggestion may prove another route.
I certainly agree that interiors get cramped when minis are inside with their bases, those little lead and plastic figures have gigantic personal space issues, they wouldn't do well on the subway that's for sure. Which impacts the design.
It often leads to less furniture/scatter inside buildings for gaming reasons, which means it looks a little boring without lots of interesting clutter compared to the outside. It's also very hard to paint inside a building neatly, so it looks a little sloppy compared to the outside OR it radically increases build time requiring you to paint inside as you construct the piece. I don't know about you guys but that kills my mojo and ensures the piece wont make it past WIP. Finally, if your an amazing artist with intersteller tenacity to finish a project without getting too tied down with the details of a scratchbuild project your'e left with the issues of lift-out roofs/walls and cracks in your beautiful piece.

still not painted ??? ::)
Nope, I've been slacking lol
Fear not, work resumes this weekend. There is still a fair amount to do before painting; sanding down, final Balsawood additions (gates, posts etc) then the ground work.
I've got two weeks to do it in. Should manage it ;)
-
Nothing like leaving it too the last minute to guarantee finishing a project.

I still can't find the box with my paints to finish my BLAM stuff.

I have not even started......

lol
Love it!

An update this weekend. The photos don't show all the work. Everything has had a good rub down with medium grade sand paper to get a smooth finish on the walls and roofing.
I have now started to add the detail. A gate, hasty gate to the corral, artillery positions in the bastion and began work on the timber watch tower.

Lots more to do on the tower structure to finish it off and then add a firing step inside.
Work continues on Tuesday. Still on track for finish week commencing 9th October. ;) :)
-
Nice work :-* I really like the rustic feel to your fences!
Lon
-
you have added beautiful details :-*, but will you reinforce the balsa fence on the tower? it seems light enough and the balsa is not very solid
-
Great little details, I can't wait to see the finished article and hopefully attack/defend it in a couple of weeks time :)
-
Nice work, Groover!*
:-* :-* :-*
*But you do know that you are going far too quickly, don't you?
;D

Yes, lots more to add to it. :)

Coming along nicely mate! :-*

That looks bloddy marvellous!
-
Awesome Nick - looking great. Nothing like a deadline to spur you on!

Looking forward to seeing the finished building in a couple of weeks time - better crack on with it :)
-
That little timber gate is a cracking detail. Really impressed with this. It's Bibblyesque in its attention to detail.

Yep,seems like there'll be lots of terrain eye candy on display, once again, at this year's Blam ,can't wait :)
-
That woodwork looks terrific and really adds to the sense of a real building. Dammit!
I mean, I really didn't want any more encouragement to try and build one of these myself, TWI was going to be a small project, just a SP2 force per side, a couple of buildings, I could handle it, honest..... :D
-
Ok so the tower is now finished, it's had added detail, steps and a firing platform. It also has a plastic sleeve to fit a flag pole. :)
Gate posts are also on. Next will be base texturing, I'm going to do that before making and adding the gates. I can see the painting stage coming very soon now...getting there! ;D

Fantastic detailling on the tower, especially the hinges and handle. :o :o :o

Loving the wood work on the tower and the hinges! :o
Can't wait to see this beauty painted and gamed on.

How well does the wood stick on to your render? I usually find mine breaks off easily and I have to pin any woodwork on. :?

Never had a problem (I use Polyfilla). I stick the woodwork on after the filler has cured using PVA. On all the builds nothing has ever broken off. :?
-
Wow, just wow... :-* :-*
Very well done.
Looking forward to see it painted. :)

You can probably guess how I read that.
lol lol

Ok, so today's progress was to make the flag, cut down the trap door surround ( it was too big wide and was really bugging me. So it was suitably trimmed and re rendered.
Then the sand and stone groundwork was added. I'll let that dry overnight and then it's onto the first coat of paint.
-
Ooooooh you're cutting it fine... ;)

Here's a recap from last night. Trapdoor frame reduced in size and flag in situ(although it needs painting and tarting up. It's removable for ease and safety.
And here is the model ready for undercoating. I've added and touched up the areas where the sand and small stones did not take on the first application. You always miss a bit with the glue however hard you try. lol
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/30/86_09_10_17_2_20_30.JPG)
Yu can see the frame in the bottom left by the door. This will have straw roof added after painting. Easier to get the brush in first.
Undercoat this pm..two days to go. Easy! :o lol
Nearly forgot, still got to make the gates and have them hinged. ::)

Fantastic. I love centrepiece models in which you can run an entire game like this...wish I had one. I was pretty sad when Crescent Root Studios stopped selling their old massive Adobe fortress :(
-
This is coming along very nicely, sir.
8) 8)
Will it look freshly 'daubed' for the weekend?
Will that plaster still be soft...?
:D
-
Upps, great work, Nick. And I think you are full in time, right? ;)
-
Undercoating underway!
I have often been asked what colour, so here is it a large tin of Dulux matt emulsion finest. This tin has so far done all my terrain boards and every Adobe building (and there are a lot of them) and its still half full.
And here it is undercoated and drying nicely. You can see I do the ground and building the same. As its made with local building supplies to some degree the ground colour will be reflected in the building.
I'm going to let it thoroughly dry overnight before moving to the next state. Three successive lighter shades on the walls and roof, then two shades on the groundwork, then finally the woodwork.
More tomorrow.
-
Looks great!

Two days!?!!! You have your work cut out! :o
Looks great mate! :-*
-
Looks great :-* :-* :-*
-
Stunning! :-*
-
I admire your patience. I would have undercoated and dry-brushed everything (window frames, door etc.) then picked out the details of said features. I find it a lot quicker (not nearly as nice as your work, but quicker) and a little say red, rubbed on with a small tatty brush onto an already dry-brushed door gives a nice weathered effect, but then I like the well used adobe building look.
-
Looking forward to seeing it completed

Interesting approach. I have used exactly the same formula for all my adobe builds which go back nearly ten years. They All still blend together well, so I dare not mess with the basics. I like your idea of adding red to the mix though, might have to try that on another one... :)
-
Lovely stuff. :D
-
Here is the painting order stage by stage.
A wash of raw umber around the bottom of the walls and liberally across the groundwork.
Whilst that Is drying the first of the wall colours is added.
The second coat on the walls plain old white.
Now I undercoat the woodwork again using burnt umber acrylic straight from the tube, watered down though.
Now the woodwork needs to dry thoroughly before dry brushing tomorrow. The second drybrush has gone on the ground work. Need to pop out in the morning to get some more cream coloured paint for the final ground drybrush.
It looks quite dark as it is. This will change as soon as the woodwork is lightened with successive drybrushes.
Need to make the gates, finish the roof and paint the flag pole. Should manage it by close of play tomorrow. ;)
-
THIS LOOK ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT.

Fast work!

Proper job!

BLAM actually began yesterday, so there would have been quiet a few taking days off to attend.

The only UK public holiday that falls on a Friday is Good Friday, or if Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's happen to fall on a Friday. Otherwise public holidays are always Mondays. Don't ask me why. I have no bloody idea. :)

That is a wonderous piece, all set up for my visit to the Alamo tomorrow now.

Same in Oz, save for the recently introduced Aerial Pingpong Parade Day and Melbourne Cup Day,* observed only in Victoria. Personally, I blame Bob Geldhof.
* Oh and Anzac Day, on those occasions when it falls on a Friday.

The only UK public holiday that falls on a Friday is Good Friday, or if Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's happen to fall on a Friday. Otherwise public holidays are always Mondays. Don't ask me why. I have no bloody idea. :)
Lucky Brits and your bank holidays. Our public holidays are, in the vast majority, based on ecclesiastical calendars (or otherwise on fixed dates) and thus move around to usually the most inopportune day of the week, or are smack bang on Thursdays if fixed.

Had the great pleasure of playing on this today. It's even better in the flesh. Well done Nick, a beautiful table and a most fun game (speaking as the victorious comanche! :D)
Didn't get a chance to play on it unfortunately, but it really is even more impressive close up. The painting is incredibly effective.
-
It’s a great piece - very much looking forward to the images in a battle report :-*

I don't believe you! I need pictures!😉
-
That is an awesome build. You made it look easy but I think it's a result of your skills than a simple undertaking. Your post were wonderfully instrctive though and I'd like to try building an adobe structure some time soon; Just not as ambitious as yours :D .

Very impressive, as usual I am green with envy. I to must try an adobe. I to will not be as ambitious as to try a Presideo...

Well done sir.

Great image - so much going on :o 8)

That's a humdinger of a table you've got there, Nick. Looks like it was a fun game.
But a LAFer not taking photos of his game? Is that even allowed? Tsk, tsk. lol

Games was good fun and the presidio made a splendid centre piece

Excelent photos on a great terrain board.

-
An amazing table - love all the little details - it really looks vibrantly alive! :-* :-* :-*
Much better with pics mate. ;D
-
Truly a work of art! Well done.
-
It sounded like a lot of fun too judging by the "whooping and a hollering" coming from the table. It was a great spectacle too!
-
I have some more photos that I will post up later, just made it up the road
It was a fun game, my indians done rather well, with the chief now set up in business as a horse trader and various braves collected loads of coup and a few prisoners for the after raid party
The only down side was the number of young bucks that died seeking glory on the battle field
It was a lovely board and the fort is a stunning centre piece
-
WOW can't really say much more than that.
Excellent looking building, table and game.
So I'll just say WOW
-
Wow, what an amazing board!
-
Never mind you've made the perfect board, got the perfect figures with the perfect paint jobs, it's your scene setting that really makes it! :-*

Ah, mucho linda, Señor.

Would you say he has been called a Burro a plethora of times?
