Title: Workbench update with RCW Cavalry
Post by: Rogerc on August 28, 2017, 03:01:54 PM
A quick workbench update on the blog with a number of Russian Civil War figures. Nice shot of the red cavalry of Leonid.

All four figures are made by Leonid, a sculptor who you can PM on here under the name LEON. More details of his figures are a little further down the list. Highly recomended.

Thanks for that Roger- it might be time for me to replace my Cossack's with more accurate figures.
What might be I able to use for the dismounted versions?

For dismounted I did a little converting, their are some pictures on the blog I think https://gapagnw.blogspot.co.uk/ you might have to dig around blue caps with yellow bands and yellow shoulder boards. Did them in the last month or two so shouldnt be hard to find.

I bought White Russian Copplestone figures and then weeded out those with puttees or blanket rolls so I just had chaps in boots and caps, cut the bayonets off the rifles and then glued a sword to their waste belt. As the webbing is the same they look spot on.

Officer figures look great with no conversion at all.

If you cant find them let me know and I will take a couple of pics and stick on here.

Here is a pic of basic conversion of reds and whites for dismounted cavalry. Hope it helps.

These are also Copplestone. The heads were already correct, I just needed to trim off bayonets and add a sabre. Simples!

I was wondering that too. Now if Leon had a couple more mounted and a couple of foot figures suitable for Cossacks they could be mixed with a few Copplestone's ones that are also suitable ie boots caps etc then I might be able to get a unit of 10 mounted and 10 foot together that ACTUALLY looked like WW2 Cossacks!  :-*
