I really enjoyed them.
I'd recommend you continue with both the mechanics and a full game.
It's going to be a great marketing tool for you.
My son initially had trouble convincing his friends to play Pulp.They watched a quick game at a local club now they all play once a week.
So a video of a full game you can point to. Would be a lot easier to relate too,for new gamers.
I'd love to see more game mechanics and rules. Shown. It's a great way to refresh your understanding of the game if you play as infrequently as i do these days.
Also what a great way to kill liberty taking with rules. Can't agree on a single interpretation of the rule,YouTube! It's the next best thing to asking Mr Phipps himself.
I know its time consuming but I think you'll find it'll pay for its self in time.

I was talking about the videos with ManaUser, and he suggested a video on character generation would be interesting. Something like...a discussion of one or two pulp characters (The Thin Man or Professor Challenger, say) and why they're so cool, and then try to apply skills and abilities and followers that matched. I suppose it would mostly be talking heads, but perhaps a bit of gameplay to demonstrate particular abilities.

Ooh, I can think of a few things for future videos. In no particular order:
- Solo games
- Horror games
- Vehicles
- A full game, even if it's just a Leader, a Sidekick, an Ally and a Follower per side

About PA's storytelling element? For instance the different ways a peril could be interpreted, plot setups, or fight outcomes (the fancy dinner scenario from Vice Alley might be handy here)?
It's something fairly unique to PA, so even though it's not directly-mechanics related, it might be worth highlighting?

Yes. Level 3 and 4 characters who have been wounded, but are not down, also roll for Recovery and heal back their health levels, one at a time. If they are down and pass a Recovery roll, they get up but are only restored to d6s until they heal back all their lost health levels.

Yes, rags is 100% correct.
In Pulp Alley we measure a character's "condition" is relation to the type of dice they roll for their Health checks.
The result of failing a Health check is that your Health drops one level (dice-type).
The result of passing a Recovery check is that your Health goes up one level (dice-type).

Yes, we don't know how to edit the videos (yet). So what you see is what we did.
The camera is stopped at the end of Turn #2 and end of Turn #4, so I can get a drink and fix my makeup! lol
I think our first full-scenario video is about 1 hour long. The second full-scenario is about 12 minutes longer.
Even with all my extraneous dawdling, dithering, and unrelated blathering, Pulp Alley is still designed to play fast. Damn fast! ;)

Oh good, I’ve just finished my first game with the solo deck (AAR to follow at some point) so I’ll be able to see if I did anything drastically wrong.
Regardless, it was a good game and the cards worked fine.

A question. Shouldn’t Phantom Ace have had his shooting dice reduced on the 2nd and 3rd attack he faced?
Normally, yes.
However, Ace has the Veteran ability so he ignores the multi-combats penalty whenever he rolls Shoot dice. Note, in all three fights he was rolling his Shoot dice.

Looks like Quick Shot, which is a level 3 ability. Once per turn you can shift your Shoot dice type down one to gain a +2d Shoot bonus. Close range only.
There are similar abilities for other skills, Quick Strike (Brawling), Quick Witted (Might, Finesse or Cunning) and Quick Dodge (Dodge).

Thanks Pat. Upto now, I've always used "burst" (or is it "blast" - one or the other) for smg shots. Maybe try a shoot dice bonus instead.

Exactly true! I have never been a fan of the idea that a weapon works exactly the same for each person. It's the only explanation I have for Mila being a better shot with a .38 than I am. ;)
When I'm trying to incorporate a specific weapon into a character's profile, I also think about how they use it. For a smg I might pick Burst Fire, Blast, Quick Shot... Are they a "spray-and-pray" type or an "artiste" that can write their name with .45 slugs?

Pat is correct. I think there was one video that Dad forgot to drop a reward when a character went down, and waited until the guy went out. It may have been the solo video. That was a mistake, it should have been dropped when he went down. ;)

Absolutely! We tried a bunch of different ideas, and that just seemed to be the most fun.
Even if two different guys walk into the same trap, it doesn't have to be exactly the same every time.

1. Yes, 54" x 18". We used three of our normal 18" x 18" tiles laid out in a line.
2. Yes, for this scenario the defender was awarded all plot points they held at the end of the scenario, so they could have won by simply holding on.
The far side of the table counted as an "exit" for the cultists so they were allowed to leave via that edge and keep control of their plot points.
Going back and watching it again, I realize how important the Initiative was on those last two turns. If the cultists, had stolen the Initiative it easily could have swung the other way. ;)
This is one of those "specialty" scenarios we drag out and play once in awhile, but it has not been published in any of the books.

This one is really shaping up for a nail-biter of a finish.
The terrain is fantastic. I love the buildings and the Sally 4th centrepiece works really well. The large tiles make a great gaming mat, hard to find in the UK. Most places seem to only sell the one foot tiles.

I really enjoy these videos. You can tell that Dave truly loves the game. He gets so into it. You can see the sparkle in his eye as he is imagining all the action taking place on the table. I can't wait to give the game a try.

Hmm... well, I basically play the Servants of Apophis as "antagonists". They simply try to thwart Phantom Ace's endeavors to find the lost tomb of Apophis. So if I stop him from getting closer, I call it a win. :D
For what it's worth, this was clearly be a "win" for the cultists - because they ended the scenario with 1 VP versus 0 VP.

I bought mine on eBay. Search for Chinese plastic lizards toys. Their colours are awful but the sculpt is pretty good. Undercoat, paint, and they'll do the job!
I forgot to say that they're cheap as chips.

I am curious, what are the blocks in the wall made from? Are they Hirst Arts or are they the blocks you can get at places like Hobby Lobby? I have considered getting some of the pre-made bricks from Hobby Lobby. I just wasn't sure of their quality. A splendid end to a very inspiring campaign! Thanks for all the work you've put into these videos - they've been a great help to me in terms of investing the rules, and from the large numbers of AARs since you started I'm sure that's the case for many others too.
Going forward I'd love to see how different the game flow might be with three or four players, which I understand might be harder to do on such a regular basis. It would be great if you could haul Spectator Josh into a game, and tempt Dangerous Bess out from behind the camera!
