These guys have been slowly rolling out for almost a year now I think, but with the arrival of Mana presses printed rulebook the cars are now officially available via the website.
As I have enthusiastically informing anybody who would listen, I did the cars and most accessories for this range, so I am very excited to see in on full release. through the real gems here are the drivers and gunners, which the pictures do not do justice at all.
I want to gush of this for a lot longer, but I don't think I have much more to say.

Ordered, and it jumps to the top of the 'to do' pile until some other shiny thing dethrones it.

Very cool! My favorite is the Bluebird. I'll definitely use them for Pulp Alley.

Thanks! Though its actually a the golden arrow, there is a blue bird that has a very similar engine segment IIRC. I gotta admit, even before knowing anything about the rules these were going to accompany, I had pulp alley on the mind for them.

Great! I can't wait to see what people do with them, they are pretty modular, especially once you get multiple or the accessory pack.
I figure the drivers and gunners should also be very handy for all sorts of projects, I'm very lad Nic is offering them up separately.
-
Will they make it to the UK site as well?

These are the dogs bollocks thru and thru.

Thanks man!

This I can not answer, I just do design and printing for Nic occasionally.
-
Just spoken to Ian @ Fighting 15s - they're will be coming to the UK :)
Prices around £25-30 for the cars, which sounds more than fair when he's dealing with the shipping and import duties

Oh, very glad to hear that! :D
-
These are great. I shall wait until they get to Fighting 15s but I must have this one! :-*
-
Nic was very specific about that one, its a actual land speed vehicle design, tweaked a bit for ease of production. We are currently working on a couple of potential variants of it, one with a tail gunner and armour plating and one with a more blue bird like twin tail. Very exciting work for me.
The actual car:

Excellent news and I agree regarding the prices. As amazing as the cars look, I probably wont buy more than one, as I have plans for building my own. The crew though.. I'll take one of each please :)

Eureka had made some earlier models for this.
I got three from Eureka in the US. They are great models.
Not hard to put together. Many choices for what you want to
put on the cars. I intend to get some of the new ones too.

Yes, I tried to replicate all the versatility of the original cars in the new designs, and add some more. (You will note modular grills in the accessory pack) and fix some issues, the new axles are a little less elegant, a lot stronger for instance.

If you want some inspiration for converting the Golden Arrow, here is a picture I just found of a radiator module they installed to test some idea's for the Bluebird.

Cheers for looking and if anyone knows of a good source of number decals about 3/4 - 1 cm high I would be very interested. :)
-
Some lovely colour choices and painting.
What style numbers? WWII tank and aircraft numbering may suit your needs.
-
Those are dripping with whacky races flavour and I love it! You also have built and painted more of the cars than I have now. o_o
-
Thanks guys. :)
I hadn’t even thought of WW2 decals. Cheers. They could work a treat.
-
Excellent work! :-*
-
What wonderful stuff! :-*
Just was thinking that I have more than enough minis with no need to add to the pile...
Then these beauties come along and blow that thought out of the water. o_o
Rabbitz, those are outstanding! Although the first vehicle is elegantly gorgeous, for some reason I find those wonderfully chunky red and yellow vehicles strangely compelling and full of character, and I think I'd start with those!
I've been pulp gaming using a Victorian Sci Fi genre (re: steam), but I find myself drifting more and more into the twentieth century. I think the current is picking up.... lol

dieselpunk is where it's at, mate!

Hear hear!
Decal wise I wonder if there would be some way to find 30's racing car decals in the right sizes. Might be something to look into!
-
Make your own; it isn't expensive and even I managed to do without swearing (more than usual)
-
White is the main colour on those things though. And I hear that is a tad harder. But I suppose you could give it a black border and try to cut neatly around that. hmmm
-
Yes, I would imagine a white circle with block or coloured numbers inside and a black or coloured border would cover a lot of ground.

Relatively easy as long as you follow the destructions and take your time trimming. I actually find the white works better than the clear as the colours are much bolder on the white background - the clear ones need over painting
-
Rabbitz, when you order, make a note for me and I can pop you in a set of decals.
I picked up lots of $1.00 sheets that inspired me at a local modelling show.

Some really well painted cars posted.
Just put in an order to Rob at Eureka USA
for some cars.
Now any good racing movies for the time era, out there?
Or some books?

I dropped into Eureka Miniatures yesterday and picked up (among other things) the Mad Maximillian Flyer, running versions of the crew and the turning template for Maximillian 1934 (thanks again Scurv).
I'll start a thread over the weekend, but I've already glued the car together and started painting the template. A little fiddly, but a lot of fun!
For those wanting to get their template done, instead of following Mana Press' video:
https://www.facebook.com/tribalgame/videos/1891941354153823/
A quick alternative would be just to use a black felt tip pen.
I've gone and painted mine and I'll use chalk in the recesses instead.
I also picked up the Louise Brooks figure with the two pistols:
But I can't find her on the Eureka website.
tl;dr: Get these cars and rules. Now.
-
...I also picked up the Louise Brooks figure with the two pistols:
Alright, I'll bite; why was the young lady wielding a pair of flintlocks? ???
-
Love the lady with the two guns.
Been getting my game on.

Love the layout Rabbitz, seeing those bold cars run through such a sleepy town makes it even more fun! And man that purple, so bold, so cool.

Yeah - that yellow and red one reminds me of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

Those are great cars (and paint jobs), and awesome tables. I love Eureka's Louise Brooks mini. I guess its a case of ask Nic, because it wont be updated on his website this side of Christmas :D
Caliver books have just advertised they are now selling Maximillian.
-
Oops, forgot to update this thread. I contacted Nic at Eureka Miniatures. He confirms that she hasn't been released yet (but he imagines she'll be part of the 'A Right Bloddy Mess' range), but she is available. Like with many things that haven't got an official release yet at Eureka, you can order her by emailing Nic (contact details on the Eureka Miniatures website):

I should have my first shipment of the Maximillian 1934 cars and figures here in the UK next week, and a second shipment two weeks later. Rules are coming separately.
It will take a day or two for me to sort out the incoming stock.
Codes are currently on the website, but the add to cart buttons are not yet enabled.

I am curious to know what spawned this genre of car gaming? Apart from looking cool. I had never seen the 1st corp car before now, but I assume its been around for a while? I saw the Eureka cars a few years ago and wondered what game they might be used for. The historical photos used in the Maximillian rule book show all sorts of real world equivalents (although without quite so many guns), my favourite being the motorcycle chariot racer. The champion of which competition being a New South Wales police constable ( I felt compelled to research). I wonder if anyone does a model for that?😊

I can't speak on Nic's behalf, as the original hand sculpted cars were already a thing when I got involved, but IIRC the initiative for "A right bloody mess" The Australian spinoff of "a very British civil war" was partial to blame. In addition, the whole concept of putting fighter plain stuff on racing cars has been a bit of a fad for a while now, starting in the actual model building scene where steampunk turned into dieselpunk and racing car conversions of spitfires etc were all the rage for a bit. Probably more factors at work that I don't know about, just some touchstones I know from the top of my head. All that, and the latest mad max making car combat cool again of course!
-
Mad max with style ;)
-

The rules were dispatched last week and the arrival date is at the mercy of Australia Post and Parcelforce.
The cars should arrive Monday, when I will be recovering from attending Crisis.
Because Mana Press and Eureka Miniatures have different agents in the UK, there are sourcing issues that complicate getting everything into stock. The template is quite easily made with the help of a photocopier, and so given likely sourcing issues I will not be stocking it. I will, however, be looking at getting a version made rather than having to charge imported product rates for one.
-
lol, I looked up the motorcycle chariot racing. Why can't we still have sports like that? I blame lawyers >:(

The source of inspiration was
"All of the figures and vehicles we are releasing here came about due to the suggestion of Matthew Clarkson that a Civil War could have occurred in Australia in the 1930s, inspired by the Very British Civil War ranges from the UK. The idea captured our imagination at Eureka and we began telling others and a week after the initial thoughts Ty Chapman brought us three converted and scratch built models of automobiles from the 1930s that he had 'up-gunned'. These in turn were spotted by Tony Ramsden who suggested they would be perfect for a "Mad Max" 1930s scenario. That idea was then taken up by Mana Press who have written and
are soon to print a set of car racing and duelling rules called "Mad Maximillian 1934". Coming full circle, Matthew Clarkson will also be releasing a book soon, "A Right Bloody Mess", which will be a full review of Australia's resources and capabilities in the 1930s with suggestions as to how a Civil War would have progressed. It is an essential guide to creating scenarios in Australia at the time and will be available soon, through Eureka Miniatures."
Cheers

I like that this little piece of alt-history also required a small history of its own to explain.
On a completely different note, here is the first preview image of one of the alternate back parts for the golden arrow we are working on. Still heavily in WIP and missing the turret part, but I think you can see where we are going with this.

Well, that looks suitably mad, Tim! As if driving the Golden Arrow on anything aside from smooth beach sand or salt crust wasn't mad enough! ;)

The metal figures and rules are now in stock. I should have templates after Warfare. However, the resin in the first batch of cars to arrive is not up to my standards, and with deep regret I have postponed the release of the cars in the UK, pending the arrival of replacement resin parts.

I just ordered a rulebook!
I'm thinking of building 15mm cars, if I can find the parts I want.

Another design preview, This one based on an actual variant we found during our research, while we were already working on a twin-tailed car variant without the side pods with wheel ailerons. Serendipity that.

I think they scale quite nicely. Yes, they are different sizes/styles but thats acceptable and they look good together in my opinion.
