Title: Starship Troopers in 15/18mm
Post by: Keeper Nilbog on October 11, 2017, 11:01:44 PM
After the collectives advice. Decided I need a new project for next year, and so dug out the old Starship Troopers rules from Mongoose. Have always really liked them, and as I now game Sci-Fi in 15/18mm and currently have no models - was wandering about that.

CAP troopers seem quite easy - CMG Arc Fleet fit the bill nicely, though Marauder Suits and other special equipment might be more of a challenge.

The main issue will be the Bugs. Not sure what's out there, though Khurasan have a possible option, even if I'm not keen (the Earthdawn suits will make good Grizzly/Cougars I should think). So, any ideas or pointers.

And I will eventually look at Skinnier.

Another reason for 15/18mm is the silly prices the 28mm stuff goes for. Am aware that Rebel has some of the old Mongoose ranges, but want to focus on the smaller models if able.

There's a guy over on Facebook doing the GZG crusties/prawns/District 9 xenos as his skinnies.  They're a surprisingly good fit for the book's description - they're pretty much naked, they're tall and gangly, and they're clearly alien humanoids with strange but not overwhelming weaponry.  The facial tendrils and chitin are kind of minor by comparison.

I'd also use GZG power armor for Marauders personally.  The modern sculpts all have obvious jump jets on the backpacks and a good mix of weapon options.  The ESU, NAC, and NSL designs are all good choice.
