Been ages since I've had any time to do anything, but managed to carve out a couple of hours to start building my secret base set for demo games at shows.

It's 60cm x 60cm and is the core kit, but I asked Gary from Figurebitz to run me some etched floors, so I have a fancy Helipad and some gridded floor plates. Rather than cladding it in the Set Designer PDF, I thought I paint mine up so it's a bit more durable and might survive being transported back and forth to shows.
So I've spent today cutting some plasticard to clad some of the walls and floors to add a bit of variety and undercoating the floors and doors to work out the paint scheme.
Being short of time I've gone with my tried and tested Halfords palette: Black spray undercoat for the grey and red floors and grey for the white. I've decided the top right room (the store) should be white too, so will give that another coat tomorrow. The doors - not shown at the mo - have all had a red basecoat. I think the walls will largely match the floors - albeit a slightly lighter version. The lab and helipad have plasticard walls and the computer room and store have plasticard floors - all just mounted directly onto the MDF.

Planning out the rooms, I've gone for (left to right) some barracks, a computer room, a lab and store - plus the big open areas. Much of that has been led by the Figurebitz consoles and Crooked resin furniture (formerly Pardulon) that I'll be furnishing the rooms with.

Anyway, shaping up quite nicely. I hope the weather holds off tomorrow and I can spray the walls.
Any tips on weathering a concrete look for the helipad? I tend to do lots of washes, but I'm sure I've seen a good sponge technique here somewhere.

Excellent work.
I like all the extras you have.
Look forward to seeing it finished.

Looks good! :-*

Weathering concrete..... MIG pigments brushed on and fixed with hairspray (you can imagine the look I get buying that!) - you could use artist's chalks as a cheaper/easier to get option but they're not as concentrated and harder to use. I've probably got a couple of spare pots somewhere you can borrow....

the control rooms look very "Man From Uncle" -ish. the walls have a nice color & pattern.
-
That looks like it'll be a nice set up. You can never have too much scatter terrain for stuff like this so it's great to see you expanding your range.
-
That looks great.
Are the gridded floor plates going to be made available commercially?
Oh and when will the cell block you had on display at Colours be available?
-
Terrific job.

Yep - we'll sell those as a set at some stage. The Cell Block will hopefully be out next month.

All the walls base coated now - and a black coat along the top to help it fit in with the demo tray (although not sure about it). Detailing up next.

Looks very good. Surface texture is great.
Is the tray a custom one?

Cheers - yeah built specifically to take to trade shows to bolt onto an IKEA Kallax unit.
-
Well done, like the colors used.
I like how the doors work, very clever.
Missed that the first time around.
-
GREAT color scheme and interior decoration! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*

The extra flooring with the different variations gives an excellent result. I will be following this with interest.

Ta. We plan to add the option of etched floors when buying the set. I've added plasticard to a couple of them for a bit of variety.

Well that is rather impressive and very realistic looking I especially like the furniture and computer room fittings.
